Catherine Stirm: Florida woman, 67, goes mysteriously missing after brother shot himself dead at motel

BRADENTON, FLORIDA: Investigators have labeled the disappearance of the 67-year-old woman as suspicious following her brother's suicide at a Brooksville motel. 

The Bradenton Police Department, along with the Manatee County Homicide Task Force, is actively searching for Catherine Stirm, considering her missing and endangered.

Catherine Stirm’s co-workers requested Bradenton Police to do welfare check 

As per the Bradenton police, co-workers of the missing woman Catherine Stirm requested a welfare check on Jan 29 when she failed to show up for work for several days. 

The co-workers mentioned that they last communicated with Catherine on Jan 22, nearly two weeks ago. Detectives located Catherine’s vehicle at the Sawgrass Cove Apartment complex, situated off of 47th Avenue West in Bradenton. 

Although her brother, 64-year-old Scott Stirm, resides at the apartment complex, authorities faced difficulties in reaching him regarding Catherine's disappearance. They claimed, "Repeated attempts to speak with Scott were unsuccessful." as per news release.

Officials reported that detectives conducted a search of Scott's apartment on Thursday, February 01, and the evidence gathered there has raised significant concerns for Catherine's well-being.

Detectives found dead Scott Stirm in Brooksville

On Thursday evening, detectives located Scott's vehicle at the Days Inn on Windmere Road in Brooksville. According to detectives, Scott was discovered deceased in the room he rented, having succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Bradenton police confirmed that Catherine was not present with her brother when authorities discovered him.
