LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chance the Rapper’s marriage to Kirsten Corley has officially come to an end.

Corley filed for divorce on Friday, December 13, according to reports, just two weeks shy of what would have been their sixth wedding anniversary. The filing follows the couple’s public announcement of separation earlier this year in April, TMZ reported.

Court documents regarding the divorce have yet to be made publicly available, leaving questions about whether Corley will seek spousal or child support. The former couple, both 31, share two daughters - Kensli, nine, and Marli, five.

In April, Corley took to her Instagram Story to confirm their split, expressing gratitude for their time together and emphasizing their commitment to co-parenting. “God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together,” she wrote, asking for privacy as they navigated this new chapter.

The pair’s love story began in 2013, culminating in a secret civil ceremony in December 2018 and a larger celebration with A-list guests like Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Dave Chappelle in March 2019. Despite their relatively private relationship, the marriage faced public scrutiny after a viral video in April 2023 showed Chance the Rapper dancing suggestively with model Mela Millz during Carnival festivities in Jamaica.

While representatives for the couple initially downplayed the incident, Corley’s cryptic social media posts hinted at something else. Days after the video surfaced, Corley shared an excerpt from Maya Angelou’s essay 'Home', reflecting on maturity and personal growth. She captioned the post, “I hope one day, we all choose to grow up,” leaving fans speculating about its connection to the state of their relationship.

News of Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley’s divorce filing has ignited a wave of reactions on social media, with fans and critics weighing in on the end of the couple’s nearly six-year marriage.

Many users pointed to Chance’s controversial Carnival video from 2023, where he was seen dancing suggestively with a model, as a turning point in their relationship.

“This isn’t surprising because he showed his natural a** over at Carnival earlier in 2023,” one commenter wrote. “I remember her saying she was done because of that. I don’t blame her. The video was mad disrespectful for him to be a married man,”'another remarked.

One user took a more humorous approach, writing, “I guess he’s all out of… Chances.”

While some users expressed disappointment, others shared cynicism about the institution of marriage itself. “Why do these people even get married? They all end up divorcing. Stay single!” one person commented.

“I thought they were solid,” another user admitted. Others lamented the changing dynamics of modern relationships, with one saying, “Marriage will never be what it once was.”
