KINGFISHER, OKLAHOMA: An Chinese citizen, Chen Wu, was sentenced to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to the murders of four workers at an Oklahoma marijuana farm in 2022 as per ABC.

According to court records, Chen entered a guilty plea during a court hearing on Friday, confessing to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the killings that occurred on November 20, 2022.

What did prosecutors say?

As per prosecutors, Chen Wu, also known as Wu Chen in jail records, fatally shot three men and a woman in a garage at the farm situated west of Hennessey, a town approximately 55 miles (90 kilometers) northwest of Oklahoma City. 

Pursuant to a plea agreement, Chen received a life sentence without the possibility of parole for each murder count and was additionally given a 20-year prison term for the assault charge.

These sentences are to be served concurrently. 

Chen, aged 47, was apprehended in Florida two days following the shooting and subsequently extradited to Oklahoma.

Chen Wu demanded return of his $300K investment in marijuana operation

According to court records, prosecutors alleged that Chen had demanded the return of his $300,000 investment in the marijuana operation shortly before he shot the victims.

Court documents indicate that the victims killed in the attack were Quirong Lin, Chen He Chun, Chen He Qiang, and Fang Hui Lee. 

Another individual, Yi Fei Lin, was wounded in the incident. Subsequently, authorities charged Yi with a separate assault charge, which is still pending.

Authorities have stated that Chen and all the victims were Chinese citizens, and the marijuana farm, situated on a 10-acre (4-hectare) plot, was operating with an illegally obtained license for medical marijuana cultivation.

Kingfisher County District Attorney Tommy Humphries, as reported by The Oklahoman, stated, “This case should serve as a reminder of the dangers surrounding illegal marijuana activity in Oklahoma,” as per AP News.
