CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Chennedy Carter lambasted Caitlin Clark on social media after bodychecking the new Indiana Fever player in a now-viral video during a WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky on Saturday, June 1.

With barely 15 seconds remaining in the game, Carter slammed Clark with her bodyweight, for no apparent reason, sending her sprawling to the ground as she waited for an inbound pass.

Carter got away with only a personal foul, despite the aggressive aspect of the action.

After the game, Carter deflected reporters' questions about why she shoved Clark, but she later chastised the Indiana Fever Guard on social media platform Threads.

Carter retaliated against a user who had posted a video of her post-game news conference and captioned it, "Kudos to all of this women they have really made WNBA interesting."

"[And] that’s that on that cause beside three point shooting what does [Clark] bring to the table man," Carter retorted.

Furthermore, Carter hinted at her conflict with Clark on her personal Instagram account, stating, "I grew up with all brothers. All we did is fight and argue. I love the hate more than the love what don't yall understand. I'd rather you hate me [than] love me and I mean that on my dead aunt."

Despite coughing up 5.6 turnovers each game, Clark is averaging 16.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.5 assists, per Daily Mail.

Following Carter's criticism of Clark, several Threads users flocked to the comment section to school the Chicago Sky guard as one user said, "How many points did you lose that game by and how many free throws did CC get from your cheap shot?"

The user added, "Like, you couldn't handle the chirping and lost it and gave her a cheap shot. Clark played you so easily, sitting in your head rent-free."

Another user remarked in part of their comment, "I’ll bite and give you the attention you so desperately desire: the fact that you’re still running your mouth (or fingers, actually — you were too scared to speak on it at the presser) is embarrassing."

"The only reason people know who you are is because you played against her yesterday but talk your s**t I guess lmao," exclaimed another.

Caitlin Clark and Chennedy Carter clashed as the Fever defeated the Sky in close-fought battle

On Saturday, June 1, there seemed to be a spat between Clark and Carter as the latter appeared to mouth "you b***h" to the former Iowa star before pushing her down.

Extended footage of the play also appeared to capture Clark sulkily glaring at Carter as they were walking down the floor after a basket by Aaliyah Boston.

Clark addressed the ESPN broadcast after the game by saying, "That's just not a basketball play but I've got to play through it, that's what basketball is about at this level."

Carter, meanwhile, stated following the match, "I ain't answering no Caitlin Clark questions. I don't know what she said. I didn't say anything."
