LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cher has opened the Pandora's box of revelations in her new book — ‘Cher: The Memoir, Part One’ —- which was released on November 19.

One of the disclosures is about the late Tina Turner and her first husband Ike Turner. The two had been married from 1962 to 1978. However, the union was reportedly abusive for the ‘Queen of Rock 'n' Roll’.

Now, in her memoir, Cher has shared that she gave Tina a very important advice when she confided in her and asked for one regarding leaving her abusive spouse, as reported by PEOPLE.

Cher and Tina Turner both left their abusive marriages

She mentioned that Tina visited ‘The Sonny & Cher Show’ twice with her then-musician husband and they became close. During one of those times, the ‘We Don't Need Another Hero’ singer asked her for makeup to hide a bruise.

The ‘Moonstruck’ star wrote in the book, as per The Mirror, “Tina Turner came on the show twice with her then-husband, Ike. One of the days we were shooting, she came to my room before we went on asking if I had some cover-up.”

“She had a bruise on her arm she didn't want showing on camera. I told her I had something that would work. She sat down while I looked for it and then quietly said, very straightforward, 'Tell me how you left him,’” Cher noted.

She then replied to her, “I just walked out and kept on going.”

Tina was asking about the ‘Burlesque’ actress’ first husband Sonny Bono with whom she was married from 1964 to 1975. Their marriage was also reportedly abusive.

An incident from her book described their relationship. She stated, “He didn’t yell and he didn’t hit me, but he had a hold of my shoulders and his face was clenched. I was so vehemently opposed to being manhandled, having seen Mom go through it, that I thought, f**k this.”

“If you ever touch me like this again, I will leave your ass and it’ll be the last time you ever see me,” Cher added, as reported by PEOPLE.

Tina Turner described her marriage to Ike ‘a life of death’

However, this is not the first time Tina and Ike’s marriage details have come out.

‘The Best’ singer, who died in May 2023, earlier told PEOPLE in an interview, “I was living a life of death. I didn't exist. I didn't fear him killing me when I left, because I was already dead. When I walked out, I didn't look back.”

“It was just time to not take any more. It was constantly abusive, other things going on, there was no control, there was no freedom, it was just the same this, same this and the violence. You just get fed up and you say, 'Life is not worth living if I’m going to stay in this situation,’” the eight-time Grammy winner added.
