KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Players and fans of the Kansas City Chiefs expressed their sentiments on the shooting that unfolded in Kansas City, with notable figures such as Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes joining in.
The Chiefs were present for a celebratory parade in Kansas City on February 14 to honor their Super Bowl victory. However, the festivities were marred by a tragic shooting incident at Union Station around 2 pm, resulting in the loss of at least one life and injuries to 22 others.

USA Today reports that Kansas City Police Department Chief Stacey Graves has confirmed that as many as 22 individuals were wounded in the shooting incident, with three suspects now in custody. Mayor Quinton Lucas of Kansas City also confirmed that all Chiefs players, coaches, and staff members are safe.
Mayor Lucas expressed, "This is absolutely a tragedy that we would have never expected in Kansas City."
After the tragic incident, notable Chiefs players voiced their condemnation.

As reported by KCTV5, Mahomes' wife, Brittany, also spoke out on her Instagram story, denouncing the shooting. "Shooting people is never the answer. Praying for Kansas City & America in general, this is rough," she said.
"Highly embarrassed and disappointed in this. Super Bowl wins will never be the same because of this, itβs devastating. Lives lost and people injured during something that was supposed to be a celebration. Horrible and traumatizing. So many prayers going to the families involved," she added.
Additionally, Chiefs star tight end Kelce, who is the boyfriend of pop icon Taylor Swift, expressed his sorrow, stating, "I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me."

The Chiefs released a statement on X expressing their sadness, stating that they "are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of todayβs parade and rally."
The statement also noted that the team is in close communication with the Mayorβs office as well as the Kansas City Police Department.
