LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Young’s legal team is furious over the country singer's arrest and being charged by Nashville police earlier this week.

The star’s attorney released a statement via People, "What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong and he never should have been arrested and charged in the first place."

Bill Ramsey added, "In light of the video evidence, Tennessee ABC needs to drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional, and professional harm done towards my client."

The incident took place at a Nashville bar

The 38-year-old was arrested on Monday night, January 22, and later charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest following an altercation at DawgHouse Saloon.

According to the affidavit, “Around 8:30 pm, the agents from the Alcoholic Beverage Commission were completing a compliance check at Tin Roof when they encountered the singer sitting at the bar.”

After checking the identification, he believed to have followed the agents and asked questions before making a video on his camera, reports MEAWW.

“While walking out the door Mr Young put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and struck me on the shoulder,” the affidavit said.

“I then pushed Mr Young to create distance since I had no idea of who Mr Young was or what he had.”

According to the report, the atmosphere in the bar became hostile, requiring the intervention of two officers to physically apprehend Young.

Young exhibited bloodshot and watery eyes and communicated with slurred speech.

The 'Drinkin’ Me Lonely' star is slated to make a court appearance on February 16.

Young is working on his 18-track album 'Young Love & Saturday Nights,' which will be his biggest release to date.

He rose as a country singer with hit songs, such as 'Drinkin' Me Lonely' and 'You're Gonna Love Me.'
