Chrissy Teigen adresses son Miles' picky eating habits after it was revealed he's 'never had a vegetable'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chrissy Teigen is standing her ground amid criticism after revealing that her son, Miles, has never eaten a vegetable.
The model and cookbook author addressed the backlash in a recent interview, explaining her perspective on parenting and her son's eating habits.
Chrissy Teigen says she 'struggles' with her toddler son's eating habits
Teigen shared her thoughts in an interview with Deadline, "I saw People magazine had posted it and the headline was just ‘Chrissy Teigen’s son has never had a vegetable’ and then I saw there were 700 comments under it and I was like, 'I’m not going to do it. I’m not going to do this to myself. Put it down."
"Everyone thinks they have an answer for everything, but there’s just so much nuance to this situation."
According to the Cravings cookbook author, 38, "it's a struggle" with the toddler, "but he really is such a good kid."
Acknowledging the challenges of parenting, especially with a child who has specific preferences, Teigen said, "Anyone who has kids knows that that’s their only way of really having power." She described Miles as a good kid but admitted to the struggle of introducing new foods to him. "It’s chicken tendies every night, pizza, and spaghetti, but we’re talking candy, it’s everything!" she shared.
"I was just saying in the car on the way here, it’s not just vegetables. I can be begging him to try a root beer float and he will not try it. He doesn’t do new things very well," shared the mother-of-four. "He’s very hard-headed, stuck in his ways with food. It’s chicken tendies every night, pizza, and spaghetti, but we’re talking candy, it’s everything!" she added.
Chrissy Teigen sought help for son Miles's 'picky' eating habits
Chrissy Teigen previously opened up about the dynamics of parenting and the challenges she faces with her children's eating habits. The model and cookbook author also mentioned her 7-year-old daughter, Luna, who is the opposite of her brother in terms of eating habits. Luna, according to Teigen, is a "great eater" and enjoys vegetables and salads.
Teigen shared that she sought help regarding Miles' picky eating, but his preferences have remained unchanged. The celebrity couple, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, are parents to two more children - 1-year-old Esti and 7-month-old Wren.
John Legend, in a separate interview, discussed the adjustments the family went through with the addition of new siblings. He initially mentioned that Miles had a challenging time adapting but eventually embraced his role as a big brother.
"They're really taking to it well now," the Grammy winner insisted. "I think it's actually making them more mature and they're stepping up. They're becoming more independent now. It just took a little while, but now I feel like it's really been good for them. They're more independent, more self-driven and mature," he said.
