Christina Applegate gets emotional as she reveals her dad Robert has died: 'First time I’ve really cried'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Christina Applegate could not hold back her tears while talking about her father, Robert Applegate, who died a few weeks ago.
During an April 29 pre-recorded episode of her and Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s 'MeSsy' podcast, the ‘Married With Children’ alum told guest JoAnna Garcia Swisher, “You’re probably wondering why I’m crying right now. I’m sorry. My dad just passed away a week ago,” as per E! News.
Christina Applegate says she’s ‘too busy’ to cry after dad's death
She further shared, “This is the first time I’ve really cried. I think I wasn’t allowing myself to have that yet. Too busy with this, too busy with that.”
“We knew he was going to die. Is that an excuse for not feeling—because you kind of know that someone’s gonna go, and you’ve said your goodbyes?” Applegate added.
During the episode, Swisher also talked about losing both her parents over the past few years as she noted, “It is insanely sad. They are a tether. I felt very untethered.”

“I don’t know the relationship that you had with your dad. But my relationship with my dad—he’s a soulmate, and my mom was my best friend,” the 45-year-old actress said.

Swisher then claimed to miss her parents and their advice, but ‘The Sweetest Thing’ star revealed that she did not since her parents got divorced when she was just an infant.
Applegate explained, “I didn’t grow up with my dad. He and my mom separated when I was 5 months old, but he’s been in my life ever since,” before adding, “I have two beautiful siblings and an amazing stepmother, but he wasn’t part of the lessons.”
This came after in March, the 53-year-old actress opened up about her years-long battle with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Christina Applegate talked about her ‘unimaginable’ hospital admission
She stated, “For three years, since I was diagnosed, I’ve been in the hospital upwards of 30 times from throwing up and diarrhea and pain. That is unimaginable, OK? They’ve done every test known to man on me, put so much radiation into my body from CT scans to everything else.”
“And literally just in the last month, I have figured it out. Now, maybe this isn’t what’s happening, but I’m just going to tell you this. Talk to your doctor about motility issues, OK,” she disclosed.
“Because one of the things with MS is that it slows down our organs, you know, not like completely, but there is a slowing of the function of your organs,” Applegate added, before mentioning, “I have noticed that—and I’m going to be really honest—if I have to poop, I puke. And when I puke, I get all the pain and then all the things happen.”
