During the CMA Awards on November 20, Cody Johnson was caught off guard by a comment by his producer Trent Willmon during the acceptance speech.

As Johnson received the award from Don Johnson and Katharine McPhee, he expressed surprise, saying, "I did not expect that." However, things took an unexpected turn when Willmon took the microphone.

Willmon made a statement that left the crowd confused, saying, "It takes an army of people to make a great record, but I gotta tell ya, this is for this cowboy who’s been kicking Shaboozey for a lot of years."

The comment immediately sparked speculation online, with fans questioning whether Willmon was taking a jab at Shaboozey or just making a pun with his name. It’s important to note that Shaboozey had also been nominated for a viral hit titled 'A Bar Son (Tipsy)'.

Amid the growing online debate, Shaboozey himself responded shortly after the award ceremony. Sharing a picture of himself smiling inside an SUV limousine, he added the caption, "Ain't nobody kicking me," with a hand gesture that seemed to dismiss any negativity.
