Courtney Love makes UK stay permanent to keep away from ‘emperor’ Trump: ‘It’s frightening now'

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Courtney Love is making her stay in the United Kingdom permanent as she distances herself from President Donald Trump.
The singer and actress, who has been a vocal critic of Trump, revealed her plans to become a UK citizen during an appearance at the Royal Geographical Society in London.

Courtney Love, 60, has lived in London since 2019 and expressed her happiness about her decision.
She shared that she is in the process of obtaining British citizenship and plans to remain there for good.
Describing her excitement about officially becoming a UK citizen she said, "I’m really glad I’m here," Daily Mail reported.

"It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen. I’m applying, man! Can’t get rid of me!" she added.
Love originally moved to London in 2019 during Trump's first term, and has since settled into life there.
Although she had previously mentioned her desire to relocate, telling the Standard in 2017, "I know what neighborhood I’m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames," as per Page Six.
Courtney Love calls Donald Trump’s circle 'emperor-core'
Courtney Love did not hold back in her criticism of Donald Trump and his associates, describing them as detached from reality.

"In terms of Trump, and particularly this group … it’s like emperor-core. Like, [they’re] wearing million-dollar watches," Love said, referring to the president and his allies.
Love, who shares her daughter Frances Bean Cobain, 32, with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, also expressed concern about the culture surrounding Trump’s political influence.

"Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now," she added.
Courtney Love joins list of celebrities who have left US
Courtney Love is not the only celebrity who has moved abroad amid political concerns.
Rosie O’Donnell recently revealed she relocated to Ireland with her child after Trump defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

"It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say," O’Donnell, 62, shared in a TikTok video about her new life in Ireland.
She explained her decision, saying, "I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. And here we are."

O’Donnell added that she would only consider returning to the US "when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America."
Other celebrities who have permanently relocated to the UK include Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi.
