Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have taken breaks in the past 'but things are great now', claims insider

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are quite close and going strong, according to a recent report.

After the ‘Madame Web’ star’s representative cleared that "they are happily together" amid reports of a split, now a source close to them has made a similar statement.

"Their relationship works because they are both very independent and actually have lives outside of their relationship too," the insider claimed.

The source added, "It's like every time they are not spotted together for a while, there are breakup rumors."

The source acknowledged that the couple had troubles in their seven years of relationship, but they have come through each time.

"Sure, they've had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now. They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can," the insider told People.

Johnson recently showed off her enormous emerald engagement ring amid speculations rumors that she and her fiance Chris Martin were no longer together.

The 34-year-old 'Cha Cha Real Smooth' actress was spotted out on Friday, August 16, in Malibu, California, with her friends Blake Lee and Jeremy Allen White.

Johnson picked jeans and an oversized brown coat for the occasion and her left ring finger was adorned with a massive emerald engagement ring.

MEAWW earlier reported the actress was strolling through a parking lot when she seemed irritated and stared at the photographers.

Rumors of their breakup began to circulate after a source told Daily Mail that the pair had "accepted the relationship is over — and it’s best to move on."

The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actress was first spotted with the emerald ring on her left ring finger in December 2020. She did not, however, confirm her engagement to Martin until March 2024.

"[They] got engaged years ago, but were in no rush to get married," a close friend of the pair told People at the time.

Johnson, however, had not been sporting her engagement ring and had been conspicuously absent from the European stretch of the Coldplay frontman's 'Music of the Spheres' tour.

The last time Martin and Johnson were seen together was in June when she went to the Glastonbury Festival to support the 'Fix You' singer during Coldplay's headlining performance.

Johnson, who is regularly spotted in 'Coldplay' frontman’s shows, told Bustle earlier, "I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know ... I’m watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing."
