Dakota Johnson flashes massive engagement ring after shutting down Chris Martin split rumors

MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Dakota Johnson showed off her enormous emerald engagement ring after debunking reports that she and her fiance, Chris Martin, were no longer together.

The ring sighting occurred following rumors that Johnson and the 47-year-old Coldplay frontman had broken up.

However, a representative for the 'Madame Web' star told People that the pair was "happily together" on the same day that the images were obtained.

The 34-year-old 'Cha Cha Real Smooth' actress was spotted out on Friday, August 16, in Malibu, California, with her friends Blake Lee and Jeremy Allen White.

Johnson donned jeans and an oversized brown coat for the occasion and her left ring finger was adorned with a massive emerald engagement ring.

The actress was strolling through a parking lot when she seemed irritated and stared at the photographers.

The actress' representative denied rumors to Page Six that day that Johnson and Martin had called it quits, saying, "The reports are not true. They are happily together."

Rumors of their breakup began to circulate after a source claimed to Daily Mail that the pair had "accepted the relationship is over — and it’s best to move on."

The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actress was first spotted with the emerald ring on her left ring finger in December 2020. She did not, however, confirm her engagement to Martin until March 2024.

"[They] got engaged years ago, but were in no rush to get married," a close friend of the pair told People at the time.

Johnson, however, had not been sporting her engagement ring and had been conspicuously absent from the European stretch of the Coldplay frontman's 'Music of the Spheres' tour.

The last time Martin and Johnson were seen together was in June when she went to the Glastonbury Festival to support the 'Fix You' singer during Coldplay's headlining performance.

At the time, a source close to the pair told People, "They’ve had ups and downs, but now they’re definitely back on," and they were "going strong."

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have been dating for seven years since 2017. It was believed that the two briefly parted ways in 2019 but they never acknowledged the rumors.

Despite having prominent careers, Johnson and Martin choose to keep their relationship as private as possible, but they have occasionally spoken about one another and attended each other's events.

Martin most recently mentioned Johnson on the 'Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend' podcast in March 2023, discussing how she enhanced his band's performances for those who could not hear.

Johnson introduced Martin to a SubPac, a device that enables individuals with hearing impairments to feel the vibrations of a performance.

"Dakota, my partner, gave me one as a gift because she saw someone online experiencing whatever they are experiencing with this," Martin said on the podcast.

Martin was previously married to Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom he has two children: Apple, age 20, and Moses, age 18.

Martin and Paltrow are one of the rare amicable former spouses and have a contemporary family. Following over two years of courtship, Martin and Johnson began spending time with Paltrow in 2019.

'Madame Web' star and the Coldplay singer kept their connection going with Paltrow. The 'Iron Man' actress even mentioned Johnson, saying how much she adored her and how she had grown to be a member of the family.

As a stepmother, Johnson has also been transparent about her experience, saying to Bustle in March, "I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart."
