LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The notoriously private couple, Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson rarely discusses their relationship, so it is unclear when the breakup occurred or what factors led to their reconciliation.

However, one person who might have influenced the split is Martin' ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow.

Since their 'conscious uncoupling' in 2014, Paltrow has not only been a cordial co-parent to their children, Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, but also a good friend to her ex and a confidant to his on-and-off partner, Dakota Johnson.

This wouldn't be the first time Paltrow has intervened to mend Martin and Johnson's tumultuous relationship, as per DailyMail.

In 2019, it was reported that the 'Sliding Doors' star stepped in when the couple faced a rough patch and encouraged them to reconcile.

A source revealed, “Gwyneth is the one who pushed them to do it. Gwyneth is happy if Chris is happy; she only wants the best for him.”

In addition to wishing her ex well, Paltrow, who is now married to Brad Falchuk, maintains a friendly relationship with him.

The former couple supports each other’s new relationships, with Martin even joining Paltrow, their children, and her new spouse on a family vacation for her and Falchuk’s honeymoon.

When rumors surfaced this year that Johnson and Martin were engaged, Paltrow is said to have given her blessing to the couple.

Paltrow has previously spoken warmly of Johnson, saying, “We’re actually very good friends. I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person.”

In 2020, she reiterated her admiration for Johnson, stating, “I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.”

Meanwhile, Johnson happily posed for a picture with her fiancé’s ex, expressing her affection for the former couple’s children, Apple, 19, and Moses, 17. She said, “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart.”

As a member of a large blended family herself, Johnson has learned to embrace relationships that aren’t blood-related.

Johnson’s parents are actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, who divorced, with Don marrying Kelley Phleger in 1999 and Melanie marrying Antonio Banderas in 1996, divorcing in 2015.

When the reporter mentioned a photo Paltrow posted of her and Johnson, she explained, 'I grew up in a family that was so big, and I just believe in the saying “Blood is thicker than water,"'

She continued, “The actual saying is ‘The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb,’ which means that the connections with people you choose are more solid than the connections to the people you’re actually born to.”

Johnson claimed about the friendship, “'I think because I grew up in [having a blended family], it's come more naturally, but I wouldn't have it any other way really. I really wouldn't. I love it. It feels very honest. It feels really authentic…”

On Monday, sources reported that Martin and Johnson have quietly weathered some rough patches in their relationship but are now back on solid ground.

Having been together since 2017, the couple is said to be 'going strong' as they concentrate on their individual careers.

An insider mentioned, "They’ve had ups and downs, but now they’re definitely back on."

Johnson recently premiered her HBO series "Am I OK?" and presented her latest film, "Daddio," at the Tribeca Film Festival on Monday.

Martin is nearing the end of his “Music Of The Spheres Tour” with Coldplay, which began in March 2022 and will wrap up in November with several dates in New Zealand.

The last time the low-profile power couple was spotted together was in February during a romantic trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Shortly thereafter, rumors emerged in March that they were 'engaged.'

Reports at the time indicated that the Coldplay singer had proposed to the actress 'a while ago' and had the full support of his ex-wife and their children.

The couple has kept their relationship private since they started dating six years ago.

“They are in no rush to plan the wedding but are just enjoying making their commitment official.”

Dakota was also seen wearing an emerald green ring on her wedding finger at her 34th birthday celebration in Los Angeles last October.
