Mocking Musk's antics at Trump's campaign rallies, Carvey jumped around on stage dressed in a dark MAGA outfit.
"Alright! Check it out, dark MAGA. Yeah! But seriously, I run the country now. America’s gonna be like one of my rockets that’s super cool and super fun. But there’s a slight chance it could blow up, and everybody dies," he said, before leading the chant, "I’m dark MAGA! Steal the White House! USA! USA!”
The Tesla CEO voiced his displeasure over the 'SNL' episode. He wrote on X: "SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality. Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further."
In another X post, Musk criticized Carvey's performance, writing, "Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey."
He also said, "They are so mad that Donald Trump won."
Dana Carvey's opinion of his Elon Musk impression
In a recent episode of his podcast 'Superfly' with comedian David Spade, Dana Carvey admitted that he struggled to copy Elon Musk's accent, as it stemmed from several different regions.
According to Newsweek, Musk was born and raised in South Africa, moved to Canada before settling down in the United States.
"I can't do Elon Musk very well but I can do something that sounds not like anything," stated Carvey. "He has an incredible accent...South Africa via Canada, via Pennsylvania. It's almost like, it's a little bit of Australian in there, a little bit of British, but he's not totally that."
He did hint at the character's return to 'SNL' sketches in December, saying, "So now, if you ever see me on 'SNL'—I'm going back in December—you see me come off the stage, just remember, within seconds, I will be skipping for quite a while."
Conservatives slam 'SNL' sketch as 'hilariously unfunny'
The after-election sketch where Dana Carvey played Elon Musk was slammed by conservative viewers on the social media platform X.
"And this is why SNL hasn’t been relevant in decades," wrote a user.
"Going viral for all the wrong reasons," stated another.
"This is all nonsense and these people are a disgrace," noted a third.
"This is hilariously unfunny and out of touch," shared a user.
"Oh God put this show out of its misery. It’s a shell of its former self," expressed another.
