Danny Masterson to be trained in skills to help ‘ease the transition’ after completion of sentence
DELANO, CALIFORNIA: Danny Masterson will reportedly be undergoing training to acquire new skills that will prepare him for life after prison.
The 47-year-old actor has received 30 years to life in prison after being convicted for the rape of two women. The former 'That '70s Show' star is eligible to apply for parole in June 2042, Radar Online reported.
Danny Masterson to get trained for a new profession
Since his life post-jail is expected to be not the same, North Kern State Prison in Delano, where he is being held currently, will prepare him for his next chapter.
The publication has reported that in order to “ease the transition” to the real world after his sentence, the 'That 70s Show' star can choose a job from a plethora of options, such as electrical, welding, auto body and collision repair, general construction, carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, and carpentry through the "Career and Technical Education (CTE)" program.
Citing the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Radar Online reported that the program offers work in seven different sectors, which are “building and construction, energy and utilities, business and finance, information and communication technologies, fashion and interior design, manufacturing and product development, and transportation.”
Moreover, Masterson also has the option to go for higher studies program selection “through the Post-Secondary and Continuing Education Program.”
Danny Masterson was sentenced in September 2023
This came after the father-of-one was sentenced in September 2023. At the time, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said, “Justice was finally served.”
His statement further mentioned, “This has been a long and arduous road for the victims of Mr. Masterson,” adding, “They not only survived his abuse, they also survived a system that is often not kind to victims. I applaud their courage for coming forward and participating in this process.”
“My hope is that this sentence will somehow bring them peace and that their bravery will be an example to others,” Gascon stated.
The District Attorney also added, “This was a very difficult case but due to their hard work, experience, and commitment, justice was finally served today. One of my top priorities is to ensure that Los Angeles will no longer be a hunting ground for Hollywood elite who feel entitled to prey on women.”
Danny Masterson’s victim’s heartbreaking statement
One of Masterson’s victims told the court, “When you raped me you stole from me. That is what rape is, a theft of the spirit. You disfigured my life. You stole some crucial pieces of my self-worth and lessened my capacity for joy. You made every part of me turn on myself,” per Newsweek.
The victim also added, “Worst of all, for so many years afterward the rape deformed my ability to trust others and to discern danger or goodness appropriately, since life was now in the prism of the hatred, shame, and fear you forced into me that night.”
“And you were someone in my community who I peripherally knew, that my close friends vouched for. ‘Danny is a great guy,’ they said. This stolen trust part is the most crippling: because now my internal gauge was broken,” the woman added.
