LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dave Chappelle won people’s hearts online after delivering an almost 17-minute long 'Saturday Night Live' monologue where he talked about everything, from the Los Angeles fires to the late former president Jimmy Carter.
He also reportedly had a message for President-elect Donald Trump.
Delivering his message to the Republican leader ahead of his inauguration on January 20, the comedian said, per USA Today, “To Donald Trump, I know you watch the show. Remember: Whether people voted for you or not, they're all counting on you.”

Dave Chappelle urges Donald Trump to 'do better next time'
Dave Chappelle hosted the first 'Saturday Night Live' episode of 2025 on January 18. Besides puns, he also delivered a timely message. He reminded Trump that "the presidency is no place for petty people".
Wishing Trump luck for his second term, Chappelle said, “The whole world is counting on you. Please do better next time.”
The 51-year-old comedian even talked about the Israel-Palestine conflict and the devastating Los Angeles fires that have displaced many and burned down several homes, including those of many celebrities.
Addressed the audience, he said, "Please, all of us, do better next time. Do not forget your humanity. And please, have empathy for displaced people, whether they’re in the Palisades or Palestine."
Dave Chappelle pays tribute to Jimmy Carter
During his monologue, Dave Chappelle mentioned the late former president, Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29, 2024.
The comedian recalled that Carter flew to Israel to promote his 2006 book, 'Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid'.
“I will never forget the images of a former American president walking with little to no security while thousands of Palestinians were cheering him on, and when I saw that picture, it brought tears to my eyes,” he said.
“I said, ‘I don’t know if that’s a good president but that right there, I am sure is a great man,’” he added.
