Dave Portnoy declares Donald Trump as next president after assassination attempt

The Barstool Sports founder posted on X, "I just landed and missed an assignation (sic) attempt. Holy s***. What a bad a** reaction from Trump. The election is over. He's the next president. The Dems should give up. They can't beat him now."

The post continued, "Also can we quit with the hate on both sides? This country is ripping apart. Let the voters decide. Just cause you to vote on 1 side or the other doesn't make you satan."

Portnoy also shared a picture of Trump standing with his fist raised moments after the shooting and declared, "The election is over."

In a separate post, he also voiced criticism of Biden regarding the delay in the president's response to the situation.

Portnoy continued, "How has the President of the United States not said a word in over an hour when a former president and current republican nominee just survived an assassination attempt? WHERE IS @JoeBiden'."

The American businessman and social media personality, recently criticized George Clooney in a strongly worded tirade this week, accusing him of only just realizing that the President is unfit.

Donald Trump survives assassination attempt

During a campaign rally in Butler, the former president and Republican nominee was quickly escorted off the stage by Secret Service agents when gunshots erupted in the crowd.

With blood on his face, Trump later issued a statement revealing that a bullet had grazed his ear.

An assailant fired multiple shots, resulting in one person in the crowd being killed and two others critically injured.

The suspected gunman was then fatally shot by Secret Service snipers in a dramatic turn of events.

The Secret Service reported that the shooter fired from an elevated position outside the rally venue, and the FBI has since taken over the investigation.

Writing on his Truth Social platform on the night of July 13, Trump wrote, "I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. Incredibly, such an act can take place in our Country."

He added, "Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, and shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"

Dave Portnoy gains supportive reactions from viewers

Portnoy's declaration that Trump will become the next president garnered supportive reactions from his audience.

While one noted the irony that an event intended to prevent Trump's presidency seemed to assure it instead, another speculated on Trump's resilience and potential future achievements if he survived the recent events.

One viewer said, "Ironic that an event, which was intended to stop him becoming the president, almost guarantees this."

Another viewer said, "Trump handled today like a boss. He will be the President of the US come 2024. The time can not come soon enough."

One viewer noted, "If President Trump survived this and kept on speaking to the American people. Imagine what greater things he can keep on doing for this country. TRUMP 2024!"

A follower observed, "He was already winning."

One comment read, "I really like Portnoy. But I remember he said he wouldn't vote for Trump this time around cause he's too devise. He's got to make up his mind. I think all of America agrees that politics needs to change. But he should have never said that about not voting for him. Trump is the best choice. bottom line. And today proved it."

Another comment read, "Trump defiant in the face of death."
