David Beckham to be awarded knighthood and Victoria to gain 'Lady' title after years of waiting

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Soccer legend David Beckham is finally set to receive a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours next week, an honour many felt was long overdue.
The former England captain, who recently marked his 50th birthday, will officially be known as Sir David Beckham, while his wife, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, will take on the title of Lady Beckham, reports The Mail.

David Beckham to finally receive knighthood after years
The long-anticipated recognition comes after years of David Beckham’s name being left off the honours list despite widespread public support. The tide began to turn in recent years as the former soccer player's relationship with the royal family, and in particular King Charles, deepened through their shared passions for charity work and nature.
David was first honoured with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2003.
The unlikely but genuine friendship between David and King Charles is said to have blossomed over the past 18 months, bonding over their mutual love of the outdoors and beekeeping.
At the 2023 British Fashion Council Awards, David famously gifted the monarch a jar of his homemade honey D Bee’z Sticky Stuff produced at the family’s Oxfordshire home.
David was invited to the king’s Highgrove estate and eventually appointed an ambassador for The King's Foundation in 2024, a charity focused on sustainable living, education, and community development. He said at the time, “I’m excited to be working with The King’s Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work.”

At a recent public appearance at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Charles was overheard warmly asking David whether he had received a birthday gift from him and Queen Camilla. “It was incredible,” the 50-year-old responded, beaming with gratitude. Camilla chimed in, “Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.”
Back in January, David received the prestigious Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland for his “extraordinary leadership and humanitarianism” in protecting “the rights of the most vulnerable children.”
Fans celebrate David Beckham's long-awaited recognition

David Beckham is set to receive a knighthood in King Charles’s upcoming birthday honours list, and fans across the globe are overjoyed by what many are calling a “long overdue” tribute to the football legend and cultural icon.
Social media lit up with praise and emotional tributes, particularly recalling David's quiet dignity during a national moment of mourning.
One wrote, “I will never forget the amount of respect he showed. Did not demand, expect, or accept VIP treatment. He deserves the Knighthood,” and another said, “I remember seeing him waiting in that long queue to pay his respects to the late Queen and I won’t lie, made me like him so much more! And brought tears!”
Many fans pointed to that moment as evidence of David's humility and character, with a person writing, “He showed his true character that day. He could very easily have gotten a pass to the front, but no—he queued in the streets like everyone else.”
Others were thrilled for both David and Victoria, with one stating, “If this is true I am delighted for him and lady Victoria. Long overdue.”
“It was so heartwarming. He stood for so many of us who wanted to be there and couldn't,” a tweet read.
