MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry’s relationship with his father, King Charles, has been on the knife's edge ever since he stepped down from royal duties and moved out of the UK with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two kids.

However, the Duke of Sussex has now made it clear that he is very keen on reconciling with his cancer-stricken father.

"I would love a reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has," he stated in a bombshell BBC interview after losing a suit to gain state-funded security for his family in the UK.

But a neuropsychologist pointed out that Prince Harry’s approach during the interview may be doing more harm than good.

Despite airing his family's dirty laundry during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, in a best-selling memoir, and a Netflix documentary, Harry insisted that he wants to reconnect with his estranged family, but his father isn't taking any of his calls.

"He won't speak to me because of this security stuff," the Duke of Sussex said during the interview.

However, he also suggested that the royal household tampered with his ongoing fight to get his UK police protection back.

Harry’s bombshell claims raised eyebrows across the UK establishment, with many insiders claiming that King Charles is done with him as he can’t trust him anymore.

Reflecting on insiders’ claims, neuropsychologist Dr Sanam Hafeez told Nicki Swift, "You can't push someone into healing before they're ready. It has to be mutual.”

Hafeez highlighted that the best approach to proceed in instances like these was to "let them know the doors open if and when they're ready."

"Sometimes, giving someone space is the most loving thing you can do,” she added. As for the best port of call, if the king did seem more receptive at some point, she advised taking baby steps.

She suggested sending a message on a birthday or whenever something came along that reminded the prince of his father. However, she warned, "You have to do it with no strings attached.”

Signs indicate that King Charles is done with Prince Harry

Prince Harry claiming that he was concerned his father might not live much longer undoubtedly added fuel to the fire, especially considering the royal family's tendency to keep their health difficulties private.

Following his whining in the interview, a friend of King Charles has revealed that the monarch’s “upset” that Prince Harry failed to understand that it would have been “constitutionally improper” for him to intervene in the case.

“What has frustrated and upset him on a more personal level is the Duke’s failure to respect this principle,” the insider said, according to the Sun.

“And for his supporters to suggest that somehow his father doesn’t care about his family, or should step in. He’s been particularly concerned that it has taken considerable resources and cost for the Government to defend their position,” they added.

Another source claimed that Charles is finding it tough to trust Harry after the bombshell interview. "It's not that the king won't speak to him — it's that he can't. How can you have a private and delicate conversation when you know it is going to end up on a news special within hours?" they said.

Another point of contention in the royal family feud, according to The Sunday Times' source, was that Prince Harry appeared to desire a fast resolution — and on his terms.

"Perhaps if he tried to earn rather than demand a reconciliation, things might go a little better for him," they mused.

This came as insiders told People that King Charles had also scheduled a state visit to Italy during the time Harry was already set to be in the UK for his court date.

Granted, the monarch is required to make state trips as part of his duties and most likely did not choose the dates himself. If he wanted to avoid his son, a work trip abroad would have been an excellent option, the Nicki Swift reported.
