Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'disappointed' after being snubbed from Time100 Philanthropy 2025 list

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are disappointed after missing out on a prestigious recognition this year.
Time magazine has included Prince William and Kate Middleton in its Time 100 Philanthropy 2025 list, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were left out.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were featured in the magazine’s Innovators category, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were part of the list in 2021, did not make it this time.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said the Waleses deserved their place on the list, but the Sussexes might find the snub disheartening.

She told the Mirror, "I’m sure Harry and Meghan will be disappointed that they haven’t made the list, especially as they have emphasised their focus on philanthropy on their website."
She added, "I wish them well with the work they do, but now, firmly outside the royal family, they simply do not pack the same punch as the prince and princess.”

Harry and Meghan had previously secured a spot on Time’s 100 Most Influential People 2021, which also featured them on the magazine's cover.
However, despite describing themselves as “shaping the future through business and philanthropy” on their website, the couple was not recognized in this year’s edition.
Time magazine applauds Prince William and Kate Middleton for modern approach to royal philanthropy
Jennie Bond highlighted the Waleses’ impactful work, saying, "There’s no denying that Prince William and Catherine carry a lot of clout in whatever field they choose to get involved. And they have each made a significant impact in trying to help solve crucial social issues.”

She added, “I think they will be pleased that their efforts have been recognised alongside the likes of David Beckham, Oprah Winfrey, and Melinda French Gates.”
Time magazine praised William and Kate’s approach, saying their focus was "less concerned with cultural preservation and more attuned to social issues, tackling homelessness and rural mental health through their Royal Foundation and spotlighting innovative solutions to climate change."

It described their philanthropic work as “modernising royal philanthropy” and noted that their strategy involves securing corporate and expert support for the causes they champion.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s work goes beyond figurehead roles
Jennie Bond said, "The Prince and Princess have focused their energy on causes like early development, the environment, homelessness and mental health. These are issues that affect large sections of society.”
She continued, “Their brand of royal patronage is less about elitist cultural preservation and more, as William himself has said, about ‘impact philanthropy, collaboration, convening, and helping people’.”

"Time magazine acknowledged that William and Kate’s approach involves more than just being figureheads," Bond said.
Their work, she said, has aimed to “bang heads together and get action going to help solve some of society’s many problems.”
