David Schwimmer urges Elon Musk to ban Kanye West from X

In his post, David Schwimmer, who is Jewish, urged Elon Musk to ban Kanye West from the platform X, emphasizing the impact of his harmful rhetoric. “We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr Musk,” Schwimmer wrote.

He added, “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.”

The 58-year-old actor expressed his frustration with the lack of sufficient action to remove West from social media.

“I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point.” Schwimmer continued. “Silence is complicity.”

Schwimmer's call for action followed West, known as Ye, posting a series of antisemitic statements on X.

The rapper wrote, “I don’t like or trust no Jewish person, and this is completely sober with no Hennessy.”

He also stated, “I’m a Nazi,” and, “I’m racist. Stereotypes exist for a reason and they all be true. You can get money with Jewish people but they always gonna steal and invite you over to they house on Friday.”

West’s posts included further offensive remarks, such as, “Jewish people actually hate White people and use Black people,” and, “I love Hitler. Now what b*****s. I’m never apologizing for my Jewish comments.”

These latest posts came after West made headlines for his controversial appearance at the 2025 Grammys with his wife, Bianca Censori. The rapper also made waves with his comments about their relationship and his praise for Adolf Hitler, which sparked widespread outrage.

This won’t be the first time West gets banned from X. He was previously suspended in late 2022 after posting a swastika and a series of similarly harmful statements. His actions also led to Adidas severing ties with him, further amplifying the fallout from his behavior.

Social media defends Kanye West’s right to free speech amid David Schwimmer’s call for ban

Following David Schwimmer's call for Elon Musk to ban Kanye West from X due to his offensive antisemitic comments, many users took to social media to defend West's right to free speech.

A user said, "As much we don’t agree with Kanye, X is a platform of FREE SPEECH. Never give up free speech!!"

Another added, "Free speech means tolerating opinions we don't like, David Schwimmer. Kanye West has a right to express himself, even if you disagree with him. Censorship is not the answer, it's up to us to counter his views with our own."

A third commented, "It's called free speech and every American gets it."

"Censorship is never the answer," said West's fan.

A person asserted, "Kanye is still less racist than Musk and Trump. Nothing will happen."

Another added, "David schwimmer please shut the f**k up."
