LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dawn Robinson is setting the record straight about her recent remarks.

The 'En Vogue' alum recently made headlines after revealing she has been living out of her car since March 2022.

However, the singer wants people to know that this is a personal choice.

"I want to make it clear. I am not homeless," Dawn told People. She added, "I am temporarily choosing car life as part of my journey of healing and self-discovery."

The singer spoke about embracing this experience despite its challenges.

"I took a risk and jumped headfirst into this lifestyle, and WOW, what a crazy, fun, sometimes scary ride it’s been," she continued.

She also explained that this experience is teaching her resilience and personal growth. "For me, failure is NOT an option," she said.

"Being vulnerable sucks, but here I GROW. This is about embracing freedom, trusting the process, and finding strength in the unexpected," Dawn said.

Dawn Robinson talks about unexpected life changes

The 'Don't Let Go' hitmaker, who left 'En Vogue' in 1997, returned in 2002, and left again in 2008, spoke about how life can lead to unforeseen circumstances that ultimately shape a person.

"Sometimes in life, we end up in situations that we weren’t expecting," Dawn said.

"There’s something we need to learn or teach, but we’re too afraid to push ourselves out of our comfort zones to do it, so the universe does it for us! During this growth period, we either learn to trust ourselves or give in to fear and fail," she continued.

Dawn Robinson warns fans about fundraising scams

The 58-year-old also warned her followers about unauthorized fundraising efforts in her name.

"I want to be clear: I have not authorized any fundraising campaigns, and I do not want anyone—especially my loyal fans—to be scammed or taken advantage of," Dawn Robinson said.

She urged supporters to be cautious when encountering such claims.

"Your love and support mean the world to me, and I want to ensure that your kindness is not misused," she continued.

"Please be cautious and do not send money to anyone claiming to act on my behalf," Robinson added.

Dawn Robinson feels 'glad' to be put there

This comes after Dawn Robinson shared an 18-minute, 40-second video last week, titled 'YOUR NEW LIFE IS IN THE SCARY,' where she discussed her experience living in her car over the past three years.

In the video she revealed a series of events that led to her decision, including family struggles.

"That was wonderful until it wasn’t. I love my mom, but she became very angry. A lot of her anger, she was taking out on me. I was her target all the time and I was like, ‘I can’t deal with this,’" she shared.

After other living arrangements didn’t work out, Dawn accepted her new reality.

"This is not something that I would have chosen, but I’m glad that I put myself out here," she confessed. "I have no shame. I felt like I was on a camping trip. It just felt like it was the right thing to do," she said in the video.
