Many users criticized DDG for throwing an extravagant party for his one-year-old son, Halo, while seemingly relying on ad revenue to foot the bill.
One fan chimed in, "You should’ve thought about that before booking a 40k party."
Another asked, "Why throw a 40k party? For ur son who won’t remember s**t lmao."
Someone else noted, "You spent $40k on a kid's party, and now you’re begging people to watch ads to recover? Classic. Black people love flexing for clout but forget about priorities. Instead of investing that money into your son’s future, you’re throwing it away on balloons and cake, hoping YouTube pays your bills. Next time, plan with sense and stop turning financial irresponsibility into a flex. "Financial freedom is my only HOPE..."

A follower remarked, "He'll post the vlog, and it'll be a bouncy house, hotdogs and purple drink, and tell y'all it was 40k..."
One comment declared, "If you can’t afford it then don’t do it smh."
Another observed, "We can smell the desperation."
As one person explained, "Are we watching for your son or for you to make your money back?"

DDG and Halle Bailey's rollercoaster romance
DDG and Halle Bailey's romance, which began in January 2022, was a whirlwind of red-carpet debuts and high-profile appearances, including the BET Awards, the premiere of 'Avatar: The Way of Water,' and Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event.
In June 2023, Bailey had even gushed about their relationship, telling Extra: "I have my boo with me today. We’re so excited. We’re gonna have so much fun just supporting Chloe [for her solo performance]. It’ll be great!"
In the same month, Bailey featured DDG in a video posted to her social media for the first time, captioned "Singing lessons with @DDG," in a TikTok showing they practiced vocal warm-ups together.
However, after several ups and downs, the couple split in October 2024, about eight months after Halo’s birth.
