Internet trolls Bill Maher after he fires CAA for not being invited to Oscars party hosted by agency's CEO
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Bill Maher has reportedly terminated his long-standing representation with Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
Sources indicate that Maher made this decision on March 11 following his exclusion from CEO Bryan Lourd's private Oscar party at Lourd's residence on the night of March 16.
Bill Maher feels snubbed after missing out on exclusive CAA event
According to insiders, Maher felt deeply offended by not receiving an invitation to the event, which coincided with the Motion Picture & Television Fund's Night Before celebration.
Lourd's gathering boasted a guest list including prominent figures such as JJ Abrams, Barry Diller, Kamala Harris, Margot Robbie, Bob Iger, Alan Bergman, Dana Walden, Brian Robbins, Jason Blum, Brian Grazer, Donna Langley, Pam Abdy, and several CAA clients like Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston, among others, as reported by industry newsletter Puck.
Reportedly, Lourd's exclusive gathering occurred following a CAA event on Friday night at Sunset Tower, where the agency celebrated nominees such as Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Cillian Murphy, Jeffrey Wright, Annette Bening, Carey Mulligan, Emily Blunt, Danielle Brooks, Jodie Foster, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and others.
On that same evening of March 15, Maher was spotted at WME's Oscar party held at the Hearst Estate in Beverly Hills.
Maher had been represented by Steven Lafferty at CAA, who also serves as the agency's head of television.
The news of Maher parting ways with CAA emerges after the agency recently negotiated a two-year extension for his show, Real Time, extending it through its 24th season in 2026.
Real Time stands as one of HBO's longest-running original series, having debuted in 2003.
It holds the second-longest tenure among HBO's premium cable network's originals, trailing only the recently concluded Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel in terms of the number of seasons aired.

Bill Maher isn't on the same level with any of the people listed here. Why on earth would a talk show host expect to be invited to a party with studio heads, producers and the Vice President of the United States? pic.twitter.com/wke55BuvxY
