WASHINGTON, DC: The Democratic Party’s X account came under heavy criticism after sharing a post that quoted Jeffrey Epstein about President Donald Trump. The post highlighted a 2017 email Epstein reportedly sent to former Barack Obama and Bill Clinton administration official Larry Summers, where he wrote, “I have met some very bad people. None as bad as Trump.”

The post spread quickly across social media, drawing sharp reactions from users across the political spectrum who said the Democrats hurt their own argument by using Epstein as a character reference. The controversy escalated further when the same account later deleted another post claiming that Trump spent Thanksgiving with Epstein in 2017.

Democrats share 2017 Jeffrey Epstein email about Donald Trump

On Thursday, November 14, the Democrats’ X account (formerly Twitter) shared a post quoting Epstein’s 2017 line about Trump. The post included an image of a young Trump standing next to Epstein, accompanied only by the caption, “Oh.”

The post went viral almost immediately, drawing close to 1.3 million views, 3.8k shares, 26,000 likes, 754 bookmarks, and 3.5k comments. Many users mocked the Democrats for treating Epstein’s opinion as credible, arguing that relying on his comments weakened their point.

The attention came at a time when Epstein-related stories have resurfaced in public debate. The Democrats also shared a post claiming that Trump spent Thanksgiving with Epstein in 2017, a claim they deleted shortly after. Screenshots circulated within minutes and users criticized the party for posting an allegation they could not substantiate.

Trump has repeatedly denied any association with Epstein in 2017. During a White House press briefing on Thursday, November 13, officials also stated that the former president had no connection to Epstein during that period.

One widely shared post read, “He was literally the President. You don’t think someone would’ve noticed?” Another post urged Trump to take legal action, adding to the online uproar.

Social media roasts Democratic Party over viral Epstein–Trump post

Social media users were quick to react and the post shared by the Democratic Party faced heavy criticism and ridicule. “So now Epstein is your hero?" said one user.

Another user followed with, “Look whose talking,” adding an image to mock the Democrats’ post.

“Epstein calling somebody BAD means the person didn’t follow Epstein’s desires. You blew yourself out of the water,” commented another user.

One user questioned the timing, posting, “@grok does it not stand to reason that if the Dems had the Epstein files they would have used them during all 3 of his campaigns to ruin him? Why do they now act as if there is damning info about him in there?”.

Another person expressed disbelief at the Democrats’ angle, writing, “In 2017?! Yeah of course he HATED DJT. The Trump admin was the ONLY admin who took his crimes seriously and put him in federal prison, which eventually led to his de@th. What did Obama and Biden do when they were in office? Nada.”

Someone else added, “It’s generally a good thing when the bad guys dislike you. I didn’t have Democrats proudly amplifying Jeffrey Epstein’s opinion on my 2025 bingo card, yet here we are.”

Another user mocked the logic behind the Democrats’ post, saying, “Trump haters have crashed out so hard they think it’s bad for Trump if Epstein thought Trump was a bad person.”

One more user summed up the reaction with, “Is being any enemy of Jeffrey Epstein a bad thing? Not the flex you think it is.”
