PARIS, FRANCE: Meghan Markle is facing backlash for sharing a video on her Instagram Stories of her riding in a limo with her feet up near the Parisian tunnel where Princess Diana, her late mother-in-law, was tragically killed in a crash in 1997.

The Duchess of Sussex was in Paris attending Paris Fashion Week and made headlines on Saturday, October 4, for her Balenciaga show appearance.

Meghan Markle's limo was apparently close to Princess Diana's crash site

The video, which was posted on Saturday, showed Meghan Markle's limousine passing the bridges Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides. The former actress then turned the video to show her putting her feet up and stretching them out in the car.

Her limo was reportedly close to the bridge Pont d’Alma, which is next to the Pont d’Alma tunnel where Prince Harry's mother got into the fatal accident.

It is highly possible that Meghan was filled with excitement of her night with the fashion crowd, or chatting to her long-time friend Markus Anderson, global membership director of Soho House, and, since she is presumably not well-acquainted with the roads in Paris, didn't realise where she was.

Meanwhile, during the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week, Meghan sported a white, long-sleeved tunic with a flowing cape and matching slacks for the outing, pairing the ensemble with black heels, a matching purse, and diamond stud earrings.

Moreover, Meghan's rep told Page Six that she was there for her friend Pierpaolo Piccioli, who became Creative Director for the fashion house in July.

In his 2023 memoir, Prince Harry recalled driving through the same tunnel during the 2007 Rugby World Cup semi-final when he was 23.

Harry wrote, "The World Cup provided me with a driver, and on my first night in the City of Light I asked him if he knew the tunnel where my mother... I watched his eyes in the rear-view [mirror], growing large."

The Duke of Sussex also noted how he requested the driver go through the tunnel at 65mph.

"The exact speed Mummy's car had supposedly been driving, according to police," Harry wrote. "Not 120mph, as the press originally reported. I'd had plenty of bad ideas in my 23 years, but this one was uniquely ill-conceived. I'd told myself that I wanted closure, but I didn't really."

Internet slams Meghan Markle for her 'disrespectful and insensitive' post

Internet users were quick to rebuke Meghan Markle as she shared an Instagram Story video showing her riding in a limo with her feet up near the Parisian tunnel where Princess Diana tragically died in 1997.

A user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "She is disrespectful, rude, a narcissist, jealous and pure evil," while another added, "This is beyond narcissistic. This is not normal behaviour. It’s beyond tacky and disgusting manipulation."

A person stated, "This just had occurred to me as well. It’s so sick and twisted! She’s threatening William? Trolling him? Then w the relaxed leg crossing?!?" whereas someone else mentioned, "Such a bizarre take!"

An individual bluntly stated, "Profoundly tacky and insensitive," while one more expressed, "She’s absolutely desperate for us to talk about her. And here we are."

"Absolutely the most insane and cruel thing to film & post. She is repugnant," read another critical tweet.
