DJ Envy sparks outrage for dressing 8-year-old daughter in inappropriate Lil Kim Halloween costume
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ‘Breakfast Club’ host DJ Envy found himself under serious scrutiny after he posted a video of his eight-year-old daughter Brooklyn dressed up in a Lil’ Kim-inspired costume for Halloween.
The 47-year-old hip-hop influencer has been posting a few tidbits from his family’s Halloween celebrations recently on his social media. But his latest post on X garnered a huge backlash from netizens who pointed out to him that his daughter’s outfit wasn’t age-appropriate and slammed him for being an irresponsible parent.
DJ Envy posted a video of his daughter’s Lil’ Kim-inspired outfit
Per Atlanta Black Star, Envy - whose real name is Raashaun Casey - celebrated this year’s Halloween by recreating the ‘Lady Marmalade’ rapper’s famous 1996 music video, ‘Crush On You’.
Envy’s family consists of his wife Gia Casey, and their six children - Madison, 23; Logan, 21; London, 11; Jaxson, 10; Brooklyn, eight; and Peyton, almost three.
While Brooklyn dressed as Lil’ Kim in a red cut-out monokini, Jaxson dressed up as Lil Cease and London took up the role of Aaliyah. Envy himself dressed as “Uncle Luke” Campbell.
The record producer shared the video of their celebration on X where he began the video with FaceTiming Lil’ Kim.
Ever since the video was posted, it has garnered more than 3.2 million views and accumulated 1.8K comments. The internet was, however, not impressed with the act as they slammed him for the inappropriate video.
The netizens took it upon themselves to teach DJ Envy about the predicaments of dressing his little daughter in a risque outfit. The fans not only gave him loads of other available options for an eight-year-old but also slammed him for turning a blind eye to the age-inappropriate costume.

One of the social media users said, "Listen I don’t tell people what they should or shouldn’t do with their own kids but sometimes is best to BE MINDFUL of how you’re presenting your kids on the internet with a bunch of weirdos & keep things kid friendly."

"Yikes Envy! this is not it. Your wife could’ve dressed up like Lil Kim and kept the kids out of it. The lyrics are inappropriate. Everything about the video is cringe. Just a terrible idea. Parents please do better and let the little girls dress like a princess or the little mermaid. 🙏," noted another disgruntled netizen.

Another fan asked, "You thought this was a good idea?!?"
Someone else observed, "Why couldn’t she choose an age-appropriate costume? Plus, she wasn’t even around when Lil' Kim was rapping, so did she really want this or was it more about what you wanted? I can’t picture a 7-year-old saying, “Daddy, I want to be Lil' Kim for Halloween.”"
