Andrew Wolfe reportedly ready for next phase of recovery

Andrew Wolfe, who was shot alongside Sarah Beckstrom on November 26, is allegedly ready to "transition from acute care" to inpatient rehabilitation as the next step in his recovery journey.

The neurosurgeon, Jeffrey Mai, heading Wolfe’s case, detailed his progress in a Facebook post, which was posted on the West Virginia National Guard’s profile.

The doctor wrote that Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe was airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with a “critical gunshot wound to the head.”

He added that Wolfe received “lifesaving treatment,” including an emergency surgery to control bleeding and to relieve the pressure in his brain.

The post expressed gratitude towards everyone dedicated to Andrew’s care, including the physicians, nurses, and support staff who “cared for him every step of the way.” The post also mentioned Andrew’s family and their “unwavering love and encouragement.”

“While this remains an early phase of healing, his progress gives us every reason to feel hopeful about what lies ahead,” it read.

Andrew Wolfe’s parents thank ‘the world for the prayers’

Andrew Wolfe’s parents’ statement was also mentioned in the post, as they thanked everyone for praying for their son.

They said that they were “grateful” for the staff as the MedStar Washington Hospital Center for caring for Andrew in the first few weeks.

“The care has been remarkable, and they told us Andy’s progress is miraculous,” the post read.

They said they wanted to “thank the world for the prayers” and said they appreciated the power of “prayer” and were seeing the result of “God working with” and through the medical professionals responsible for the National Guardsman’s care.

They further said that it was evident that people around the world were praying for their son’s recovery, noting that “the presence of God was evident” in Wolfe’s room on multiple occasions.

They urged the world to continue to “lift Andy up in prayer” as he was set to begin the next stage of recovery and said they were certain he would continue to improve “at a rapid pace.”

Wolfe’s parents thanked “Andy’s military family” along with several political leaders, including Donald Trump, Patrick Morrisey, Shelley Moore Capito, and more, for playing an “important role” and ensuring that Wolfe received the “best possible care.”
