Dolphins star Raheem Mostert’s wife Devon faces backlash after she calls Kamala Harris ‘textbook trash’
WASHINGTON, DC: Devon Mostert, wife of Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert, has found herself at the center of a social media storm after she called Vice President Kamala Harris "textbook trash" amid a heated political exchange.
The controversy erupted when Devon took to Instagram to criticize the Democratic presidential nominee for her comments regarding Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his response to the recent series of hurricanes in the state, reported Fox News.
Devon Mostert's controversial comments followed Kamala Harris and Ron DeSantis' public feud
In the days following her post, Devon Mostert has faced a wave of criticism online, much of it being intensely personal.
Despite the backlash, she is standing firm in her defense of both -- her comments about Harris and her support for DeSantis.
The controversy began when VHarris publicly criticized Florida Governor DeSantis for allegedly not returning her calls in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, a storm that battered southwest Florida.
Harris accused DeSantis of "playing political games" during a crisis, suggesting that the governor’s focus was misplaced.
"People are in desperate need of support right now and playing political games at this moment in these crisis situations . . . is just utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish," Harris told reporters.
In response, Devon, a vocal supporter of DeSantis, took to Instagram to praise the governor’s efforts, stating that he had done a "great job" in handling the back-to-back hurricanes.
In a series of Instagram stories, Devon called Harris "garbage" and "textbook trash," expressing her dissatisfaction with the Vice President’s handling of the situation.

Devon felt compelled to speak out after hearing Harris’ comments, which she believed unfairly maligned DeSantis.
"I really don't think that Kamala's comments about him add up," Mostert told Fox News in an exclusive interview. "He is focused on taking care of his Floridians, and that's exactly where his focus should be."
Devon went on to explain her frustration with Harris' remarks, calling them "ridiculous."
She pointed out that the vice president’s accusations seemed out of place during a natural disaster when the focus should have been on relief efforts rather than political squabbles.
"All of our resources and time were supposed to be on that," she added. "Yet she's standing on the tarmac complaining that somebody didn’t take her call. To me, that just seems ridiculous."
Devon Mostert bombarded with hateful messages for criticizing Kamala Harris
While Devon Mostert's comments about Kamala Harris might have started as a political opinion, the fallout quickly took a dark turn.
After posting her thoughts on Instagram, Devon found herself inundated with hateful messages, many of which attacked her personally, targeting both her and her family.
"This is gross," Devon told Fox News Digital in another interview. "I truly can’t imagine sliding into someone’s DMs or commenting on somebody’s picture of their family talking about the skin color of my kids."

Despite the wave of negativity, Devon is determined to not let the hateful comments affect her.
She noted that she has been called a "White, snowflake, gold-digging wife," and while she can ignore some of the vitriol, she draws the line when it comes to attacks on her children.
"When you talk about my kids, you’re really crossing a line," she said, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of her children are her top priority.
She addressed the criticism head-on, stating that those attacking her family "know absolutely nothing" about her or her loved ones.
"I know who I am. I know my heart. I know my family dynamic. I know my husband. They think that they know me, and they know absolutely nothing," she said, standing firm in her beliefs.

Despite the harsh words from some corners of the internet, Devon has also received significant support, especially from the community of NFL wives and girlfriends, many of whom share her views.
She acknowledged the solidarity among this group, saying, "There are a lot more of us than the media wants to admit."
