NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Ever since Wendy Williams claimed that she is not "incapacitated," her guardianship has come under scrutiny.

Don Lemon, who earlier in January conducted one of the rare interviews of Williams, expressed his belief that the legal arrangement keeping her under court-appointed care is "too strict."

Wendy Williams feels 'like I'm in prison' under guardianship

Wendy Williams had two back-to-back interviews via phone on 'The Breakfast Club,' with Charlamagne tha God on January 16 where she denied being "incapacitated" as has been claimed by her guardian Sabrina E Morrissey.

Williams described her life under the conservatorship, comparing it to being in confinement to her long time friend Lemon on his podcast 'The Don Lemon Show' on January 17.

"My life is ridiculous," she told former CNN anchor Lemon, according to the New York Post.

"I've been with this guardian person for three years. For three years of my life... I'm isolated. I feel like I'm in prison. I can't go out. All I can do is look at the window," Williams added.

She also voiced concern about the consequences of speaking out about her situation. "I don't know how much I can talk without being punished," said Williams.

She further opened up on her fears, saying, "I won’t be able to see my dad, and I won’t be able to do anything, and I’ll be stuck in this prison I’m in for the rest of my life." Williams has been placed under guardianship since May 2022.

The arrangement left her family unaware of her whereabouts and are unable to reach her.

He said he believes the legal arrangement is "too strict", adding, "She should be able to see her family."

His remarks came as the court permitted Williams to leave her wellness facility to visit her father in Florida for his birthday.

Throughout the trip, Williams, who has been diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia, will have private security to ensure her safety.
