CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Donald Trump regarded his record with the Black community as impressive, comparing it to Abraham Lincoln, at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago on Wednesday, July 31.

The event featured tense moments as he criticized the journalists interviewing him for a "very rude introduction" and the event's late commencement - a delay of more than thirty minutes due to technical issues.

Donald Trump claims he has done much for the Black community

Prior to shifting its focus to why Black voters should support the Republican presidential candidate, the event focused on how the candidate was "attacking" Black politicians and journalists.

Trump, for his part, was incensed about the "disgraceful" turn of events and declared he had "never been asked a question in such a horrible manner."

“You don't even say, ‘Hello. How are you?’ I think it’s disgraceful ... I came here in good spirit. I love the Black population of this country. I've done so much for the Black population of this country,” Trump said.

Attempting to sidestep the question, Trump diverted attention to his delayed stage entrance, attributing it to the NABJ's equipment malfunction.

When compelled to directly address his history with the Black community, Trump confidently asserted that he had been the most effective president for them since Abraham Lincoln, who is known for emancipating the slaves, TMZ reported.

Trump claimed, “I have been the best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln.”

Trump also made unfounded accusations against his political rival Kamala Harris, claiming she altered her racial identity for career gains. He added, "She was Indian all the way and all of a sudden she made a turn and she became a Black woman."

He also attempted to address his controversial "Black jobs" remark from the June presidential debate by explaining that a "Black job" referred to any job held by a Black individual.

However, the explanation did not seem to resonate well with the audience, as it was met with a scattering of chuckles.

Internet slams Donald Trump after NABJ convention appearance

As soon as the Trump's interview surfaced the internet, users started slamming the former President.

A user said, "Trump is toast."

Another user added, "He's a weird racist.#Kamala2024".

The third commentator asked, "How does anyone watch this and think this guy is qualified for anything?"

"He is the disrespectful one and looks and sounds worse than ever," said another.

"That’s how you do an interview! Kudos to the journalist who asked all the right questions! #TrumpIsARacist #TrumpIsUnfitForOffice #TrumpIsAFelon," one wrote.

A person remarked, "LOL, skippy, here, thinks continuing to use the same abusive rhetoric that precipitated the question IS GOING TO GET HIM BLACK VOTES. He thinks he's got the country in his hip pocket. People DO realize the only following he has are conspiracy-loving haters, right?"
