PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: During an unconventional interview on Monday, August 12, former president Donald Trump told billionaire Elon Musk that illegal immigration had "saved" his life, as reported by Mediaite.

The interview, initially hampered by technical difficulties for about an hour, finally went live, drawing the attention of millions as Trump recounted the harrowing incident. The conversation quickly turned to the assassination attempt on Trump the previous month.

As they delved into the details, Elon Musk brought up a pivotal moment that averted disaster.

"Speaking of the sort of slide that got you to turn, that saved your life really, was the illegal immigration slide. That slide saved your life," Musk remarked.

With a hint of humor, Trump responded, "Illegal immigration saved my life, you’re right."

The billionaire echoed this sentiment, calling it "a great one," marveling at the irony of being saved by a chart discussing a topic Trump had staunchly opposed during his presidency.

Trump continued to reflect on the bizarre twist of fate, stating, "I’m gonna sleep with that chart always. I’ll be sleeping with that chart. That chart was very important." The bullet, which grazed his ear, prompted a moment of profound realization for Trump.

"I knew immediately that it was a bullet. I knew immediately that it was at the ear," he recalled.

Reflecting on the trajectory of the bullet Trump suggested divine intervention, saying, "The bigger miracle was that I was looking in the exact direction of the shooter, so it hit me at an angle that was far less destructive than any other angle. For those people that don’t believe in God, I think we’ve got to all start thinking about that."

Trump’s chat with Musk was billed as "the interview of the century" by his campaign. The wide-ranging discussion covered various topics, including Vice President Kamala Harris, the European Union, China, and climate change, among others.

Throughout the nearly two-hour interview, Trump revisited some of his key issues, reiterating his claims of being a victim of political persecution. Musk, meanwhile, showed support for Trump on numerous occasions.

Donald Trump sparks trolling online

The internet reacted swiftly to Trump’s claim about illegal immigration saving his life, with many users mocking him.

One Facebook user jested, "Trump sounds just like an old lady with loose dentures in this interview." Another remarked, "Trump is scared he’s going to lose, making up anything just to get votes."

Others were more critical of his consistency, with a third user saying, "He can’t make up his mind if his life depended on it." The skepticism continued as a fourth user pointed out, "Poor Donald, all he do is lie. Old Donald trying his hardest to get people to vote for him."

One user lamented, "His campaign is going from worse to worser by the day." Another bluntly called Trump "a mental quack for real."

The ridicule was relentless, with a user cynically stating, "Dude just doesn’t know what to say now." The most stinging comment perhaps was, "He belong in the nuthouse and lock it up."
