MOSINEE, WISCONSIN: Former president Donald Trump is once again at the center of controversy after making a series of false claims regarding gender-affirming surgeries being performed on children in schools.

During a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, Trump alleged that children are undergoing "brutal" gender transition surgeries at schools across the United States, as per The Independent.

Medical experts have widely debunked this statement, yet Trump continues to push the narrative, sparking outrage and ridicule online.

At the rally, Donald Trump directed his comments at Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming she supports states that allow children to undergo gender transition surgeries without parental consent.

He painted an alarming picture for his audience, saying, "Kamala supports states being able to take minor children and perform sex change operations, take them away from their parents, perform sex change operations, and send them back home."

Trump went on to offer a dramatic and false scenario, asking his supporters to imagine a parent sending their child off to school in the morning, only for the child to return having undergone a gender-affirming surgery.

"Can you imagine you’re a parent and your son leaves the house and you say, 'Jimmy, I love you so much. Go have a good day in school,' and your son comes back with a brutal operation. Can you even imagine this? What the hell is wrong with our country?" Trump said.

However, this alarming situation Trump described is not based on any facts. There is no evidence to suggest that gender-affirming surgeries are being performed in schools or without parental consent.

In fact, in states where gender-affirming care is legal for minors, parental consent is always required before any medical procedures can take place.

This is not the first time Trump has made this false claim.

Just a week prior, while speaking at a Moms for Liberty event, Trump made a similar statement, saying, "The transgender thing is incredible. Think of it. Your kid goes to school and comes home a few days later with an operation. The school decides what’s going to happen with your child," despite it being a complete fabrication.

Medical professionals have been quick to condemn Trump’s comments, pointing out the inaccuracies in his statements. Dr Meredithe McNamara, an adolescent medicine physician at the Yale School of Medicine, responded to Trump’s claims in an interview with CNN.

"Everything in this statement is false," she said, emphasizing that surgeries of any kind are performed in qualified medical facilities, not schools. Dr McNamara also highlighted that parents are the primary decision-makers for their children’s medical care, particularly when it comes to gender-affirming treatments.
