Joe Biden and Donald Trump also touched upon various issues, including two ongoing wars involving Ukraine and the Middle East.
“I wanted — I asked for his views and he gave them to me. Also, we talked very much about the Middle East, likewise. I wanted to know his views on where we are and what what he thinks. And he gave them to me, he was very gracious,” Trump told the publication.
Biden welcomed Trump with the words, “Well, Mr President-elect, former president, Donald,” as they sat together in front of the fire.
Extending his congratulations, Biden added, “Welcome back,” before the two men shook hands.
Trump, in return, expressed his appreciation, noting, “Politics is tough, and it’s, in many cases, not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today, and I appreciate it very much,” he said, with Biden at his side.
The last two presidents of the United States are likely to meet once again before the inauguration ceremony, “The Oval Office is so beautiful and I do certainly look forward [to coming back],” said Trump.
