WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has made it clear that he has no intentions of deporting Prince Harry despite ongoing legal scrutiny over his immigration status.

While defending the Duke of Sussex, Trump took a sharp jab at Meghan Markle, remarking that Harry “has enough problems with his wife.”

Donald Trump speaks out on Prince Harry’s immigration controversy

Prince Harry’s US visa status has been under legal examination, with conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation alleging that he may have concealed past drug use on his application.

The organization has pursued a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a bid to make Harry’s visa records public.

Trump, however, dismissed any plans for deportation. “I don’t want to do that,” he told the New York Post on Friday, February 7.

“I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible,” he explained.

Heritage Foundation’s legal fight

The Heritage Foundation has argued that the Biden administration may have granted Harry preferential treatment when he relocated to California following his royal exit in 2020.

The group claims Harry’s own admissions in his memoir 'Spare' where he detailed experimenting with drugs such as cocaine and cannabis, should have been grounds for visa denial.

US visa applicants are required to disclose past drug use, and convictions can render applicants ineligible.

However, waivers can be granted, and it remains unclear what type of visa Harry holds.

In previous filings, Harry has indicated he is “usually resident” in the US, but whether he holds a regular visa, a diplomatic visa, or a green card remains unknown.

Judicial proceedings could shed light on visa details

This week, Judge Carl Nichols asked DHS to outline potential redactions in Prince Harry’s visa documents, signaling a possibility that at least some details may become public.

While a prior ruling in September 2024 kept the records sealed, this new development has raised speculation about their eventual disclosure, according to Daily Mail.

The think tank initially sought access to Harry’s visa records via US Customs and Border Protection, but officials stated they required the Duke’s permission to release them.

Heritage’s legal push now continues in Washington, DC courts.

Donald Trump’s changing stance on Prince Harry’s US residency

Donald Trump’s recent comments appear to mark a shift in tone from 2024 when he suggested that Prince Harry could be deported if it was proven he lied about past drug use.

Speaking to GB News in March 2024, he stated, “We’ll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied, they’ll have to take appropriate action.”

Despite Trump’s latest comments, the DHS has maintained that immigration records remain private, much like health or financial information.

Trump has long been critical of Markle, previously calling her “nasty” and accusing her of being disrespectful toward the royal family.

He has also labeled Prince Harry as being “whipped” by his wife.

Meanwhile, Meghan has made her own remarks about Trump, calling him “divisive” and “misogynistic.”
