WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump took a surprising swipe at one of his most loyal allies, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, accusing her of “putting on some kind of an act” and claiming she has “lost her way” after she criticized his focus on foreign affairs instead of domestic policy.

Trump’s comments came during an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Monday, November 8, after Greene publicly complained that the president was spending too much time meeting foreign leaders rather than addressing domestic issues.

“She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what happened. She’s lost her way, I think,” Trump said when asked about her remarks.

Donald Trump hits back at Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ‘America First’ criticism

Trump dismissed Greene’s “America First” critique, emphasizing that the presidency required a global view to prevent greater conflicts.

“I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally,” Trump said. “We could have a world that’s on fire where wars come to our shores very easily if you had a bad president. I mean, we had a horrible president, and we ended up with Russia-Ukraine and other disasters too..”

Defending his record, Trump added, “Don’t forget, I put out eight wars, nine to come. I think I’ll get the other one taken care of. And look at the damage that Russia-Ukraine has done to us as a country. I mean, we spent $350 billion.”

He continued, “When you’re president, you really have to watch over the world because otherwise you’re going to be dragged into a world war. I think if I weren’t president, that war would have never happened. And if I weren’t president, that could have led to World War III.”

Trump also touted his economic record, saying, “With all of that, I passed a great, big, beautiful bill, which is the biggest tax cuts in the history of our country.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene fires back, insists she’s still ‘100% America First’

Less than an hour after Trump’s remarks aired, Greene fired back on X, telling Kaitlan Collins, “I haven’t lost my way. I’m 100% America first and only!”

Last week, Greene told CNN, “I also blame those who are advising him in the White House. You know, keeping him on nonstop tours around the world and nonstop meetings with foreign countries’ leaders is not America First. It’s just not.”

Trump suggests Greene is ‘catering to the other side’

The president didn’t hold back, implying that Greene’s recent comments were politically motivated.

“When somebody like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s now catering to the other side, I don’t know what, you know, I guess she’s got some kind of an act going, but I’m surprised at her,” Trump said. “When somebody like Marjorie goes over and starts making statements like that, it shows she doesn’t know.”
