WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump elicited mixed responses online as he spoke about “revenge” after his guilty verdict in the hush money trial.

The former President was convicted on May 30 on all 34 charges of falsifying business documents to pay a hefty amount to a former adult film star just before the 2016 election to shut her mouth regarding a sex scandal.

Trump has refused to accept the guilty verdict and slammed the court’s ruling as a “scam”. He also alleged that the Biden government had orchestrated his hush money case.

Donald Trump claims people are supporting him after the 'horrible decision'

Trump once again denounced his conviction during an interview with Dr Phil McGraw. He also expressed his desire for “revenge”, as reported by The Hill.

The 77-year-old Republican said, “Well, revenge does take time, I will say that. And sometimes revenge can be justified, Phil, I have to be honest. Sometimes it can.”



 

He went on to elaborate, “I think the country is really worse for what they’ve done, and I think you see that when you look at the poll numbers. When you see that almost $400 million has poured in since this horrible decision was made. That was a few days ago.”

“Numbers that nobody’s ever heard of in politics before. It’s a great honor. The people of our country get it,” he added.

Dr Phil McGraw asserts he managed to convince Donald Trump not 'to get even'

However, in a separate interview on CNN, when asked if Trump will go forward with his "revenge", “I actually don’t think he will. I think this is a situation that, it’s a process. This is something he has in his mind that there is only one way to go and that’s to get even.”



 

The television personality continued, “And I think I have really made some headway with him that that is not the way to go. I think it’s a process, I think your turn is over and over in your mind. I don’t think he would do that and to the extent that I have the opportunity to lean into this with him."

He added, “I am going to relentlessly try to get him to not do that.”

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's remarks

But people online were not convinced that Donald Trump will see reason and give up him plans of getting even with his political oppoents.

 An X user tweeted, “Donald Trump will never change. He has showed us who he is countless times over the past 40 years. He's always been a nasty, amoral cheat. He brags about getting revenge. He even reminisces about it. He loves it more than golf. Check out this clip from 1992. He's the same man.”



 

“Dr Phil really thinks he’s going to change Trump.  Hahahahaha. Joke of the decade,” the second user wrote.



 

The third one commented, “When someone reveals themself to you, Believe them.”



 



 

“This is nuts and Dr. Phil is just sitting there nodding his head in agreement...did he get his medical degree from Trump University?” the fourth user remarked.



 

The fifth one added, “Sometimes the tables get turned and the person seeking revenge suffers the retribution intended.”

However, some supported Trump also. A person said, “You deserve what is coming to you You don’t get to hit Trump with everything you have and demand he not hit you back in return.”



 



 

Another person commented, “It isn’t revenge if they broke the law…. Which they have and they all know it! That’s why everyone is freaking out. Trump is a man of his word and will prosecute every single one of them.”

A comment read, “If nothing gets done about the democrats' abuse of power, they will keep doing it, law and order need to be applied, and trust in our justice system needs to be restored. Remember, for the last 2 years Republicans have been investing and keeping files until a new AG is appointed. If you have done nothing, you should have nothing to worry about. If you did do something, it's obvious you are trying to make it look like revenge, just to kill credibility. Not working anymore democrats, all eyes are on you now,” a tweet read.
