PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump seemed to be confused and struggling during a 'painful' crypto interview on X Spaces from Mar-A-Lago on Monday, September 16, and continuously tried changing the topic, per Mirror

Trump talked about changing the "old financial system" and moving to cryptocurrency during the X Spaces interview on Monday, a day after a second failed assassination attempt on the GOP nominee.

Trump seems confused and struggling during crypto interview

Trump spoke to social media influencer Farokh Sarmad during the interview and was asked about the importance of the US leading in crypto adoption.

Trump said, "It's so important. It's crypto. It's AI. It's so many other things. AI needs tremendous electricity capabilities beyond anything I ever heard."

He also pledged to make the country the "crypto capital of the planet" but added that he needed guidance from his 18-year-old son Barron.

He said, "Barron knows so much about this. Barron is a young guy. He's got four wallets or something. I'm saying 'explain this to me.' He knows it so well. And Eric and Don. I have a lot of respect for them."

However, when direct questions were thrown at the GOP candidate, he switched the conversation to topics like AI needing electricity or China's influence, per Daily Express US.

He also drew a comparison between cryptocurrency and language acquisition, giving his own family's experience.

He said, "It's sort of like a language. I have a beautiful granddaughter, Ivanka's daughter, Arabella. She speaks perfect Chinese. Their other two children speak perfect Chinese. From a nanny who was from China."

Trump calls Biden-Harris team 'extremely hostile' towards crypto

The former President did not hold back in slamming the Biden-Harris administration and labeling them "extremely hostile" towards crypto, despite having earlier dismissed it as a scam himself.

He said, "My attitude is if we don't do it, China will. We have to be the biggest and best."

He also acknowledged the industry's growing pain and said, "The value of this whole thing is bigger than the top 20 corporations. The numbers are gigantic. It suffers from some credibility lapses."

He added, "It's very young and growing. If we don't do it other countries will do it. We have the advantage because it's me, I do believe in it."

Notably, Trump has proposed that the US government should make a strategic reserve of Bitcoin and also pledged to oppose any plans to create a Federal Reserve-controlled Central Bank Digital Currency, a digital version of central bank-issued currency to be used by the general public, the Mirror stated.

Despite Trump's statement, Brian Nelson, senior campaign adviser for policy to Harris campaign said that the Democratic presidential niminee will back measures to help grow digital assets and highlighted efforts to court an emerging cryptocurrency industry expanding its political influence, per Bloomberg.

Brian said, "She’s going to support policies that ensure that emerging technologies and that sort of industry can continue to grow."
