NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Doug Emhoff has sharply criticized former president Donald Trump for his history of antisemitic comments during a recent interview with 'Good Morning America' anchor Michael Strahan.

The Second Gentleman, who is Jewish, accused Trump of consistently engaging in hateful rhetoric, responding to claims made by the former president about Vice President Kamala Harris, Emhoff's wife, in an interview with WABC in July.

During the WABC interview, Donald Trump alleged that Harris, who is running as a Democratic candidate for president, "doesn’t like Jewish people."

When asked by Strahan about his thoughts on Trump's statement, Emhoff said, "It's typical Donald Trump gaslighting."

"He is a guy who has had a record of saying incredibly vile, antisemitic things. So, for him to say that -- I just almost laugh at -- at how-- the c******h, as we would say," he added, according to ABC News.

Inside Doug Emhoff and Donald Trump's history of tensions

The recent criticism of Donald Trump is not the first time Doug Emhoff has spoken out against the first president’s remarks targeting Jewish-Americans.

In May, the Second Gentleman called the 78-year-old politician an antisemite after the former president claimed that Jewish voters who supported President Joe Biden "needed to have their heads examined."

Known for advocating against hate speech, Emhoff has been vocal in defending both his faith and Jewish communities in the face of rising antisemitism.

In his X post on Thursday, September 20, Emhoff noted that Trump's antisemitic comments should be condemned.

"Last night, Donald Trump once again fanned the flames of antisemitism by trafficking in tropes blaming and scapegoating Jews," he wrote.

"He even did it at an event purporting to fight antisemitism, no less. This is dangerous and must be condemned," he continued.

Concluding his post, Emhoff wrote, "We will not be intimidated and will continue to live openly, proudly, and without fear as Jews."

Doug Emhoff's fundraising efforts and defense of Kamala Harris

On Wednesday, September 18, Emhoff continued to make headlines as he led two separate fundraisers for the Harris-Walz campaign.

During these events, he not only discussed Harris’ presidential candidacy but also responded to recent comments made by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Speaking at a Trump town hall in Michigan, Sanders suggested that the vice president "doesn't have anything to keep her humble" because she does not have biological children.

Defending his wife, Emhoff said, "We know that all parents, no matter how you become one, make the same sacrifices and revel in the same joys of raising children as any parent anywhere."
