LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dr Dre is gearing up to swap beats for bows as the Olympic Games prepare for a historic return to Los Angeles in 2028

The rap titan aims to represent the USA not on stage but on the archery range, and he’s not just settling for a performance—he’s targeting gold! "I’m trying to try out for the Olympics in 2028," Dre told Entertainment Tonight. "I’m dead a** serious."

Dr Dre's longtime archery passion

Though archery might seem like an unexpected choice, the 'Xxplosive' rapper has been honing his skills for decades, having first picked up a bow as a kid in junior high.

Although his music career eventually took center stage, Dre's passion for the sport was reignited recently when his son gifted him archery gear for Father’s Day.

"I actually started playing around with archery in junior high," Dre shared. "I stopped for a while and my son bought me a set-up I don’t know if it was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that, so I have it set up in my backyard. And I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet and I practice at 90 [feet].”

“Yeah, wouldn’t that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in LA and win the gold medal… I feel like I could do anything,” he added.

Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg's Olympic performance

After Snoop Dogg stole the show during the 2024 Paris Olympics, many believe it’s only fitting for the legendary producer behind 'The Chronic' to have his shot at Olympic greatness in 2028.

The two icons have already reunited on stage, performing 'The Next Episode' during the 2024 Games’ Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 11. This sparked massive excitement as the baton was officially passed to Los Angeles.

However, Dre candidly admitted that he’s not entirely comfortable performing without his longtime collaborator. “I rarely do it,” he said, reflecting on their unique synergy.

Dr Dre added, “I’ve done it with Kendrick and Eminem, and those are my brothers, but something about the synergy me and Snoop have is really interesting,” reported Billboard.

Notably, Snoop and Dre are coming together for their first album since the release of Snoop’s 'Doggystyle.' Dre has confirmed that their upcoming project, Missionary, is currently in the mixing phase and is set for a November release, featuring either 14 or 16 tracks.

With four years to sharpen his skills, Dr Dre is on a mission. If he makes the cut, it would be a remarkable achievement for the seven-time Grammy Award winner to add 'Olympic competitor' to his list of titles.

Dr Dre's archery ambitions spark a wave of reactions

The internet is buzzing with reactions to Dr Dre’s unexpected Olympic archery dream.

A social media user tweeted, "He a real Shooter." Another said, "I would love to see this tbh."

"He also promised Detox is coming soon. So yeah...," added a third.

"The fact that Dre is that confident with a bow is hella dope," penned a user. "Bro going to be in Marvel next," mocked a user.

"Is he an archer?" read a tweet with a GIF. "Dr.Dre in da house," added another. [sic]
