SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Drake is unintentionally hilarious. Whether he means to be or not, the 'God's Plan hitmaker, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, just has a way of making his fans and haters lose their minds.

The rapper has been living his best life lately—fresh off the release of his joint album with 'PartyNextDoor' and selling-out shows in Australia. But Tuesday, February 18, took an interesting turn when footage surfaced of a drone invading the sacred airspace of Drizzy’s penthouse.

A short clip making rounds online shows Drake stepping out onto his deck, only to be met with the buzzing menace of the airborne intruder. He freezes, does a double-take, and then scurries back inside. A moment later, he reemerges with an orange Yeezy slide. While he may have planned to take down the drone, the execution wasn't exactly NBA material.

Drake launches the slide in the general direction of the drone, but the throw is tragically weak. The drone backs away—almost taunting him—before zooming out to capture a wide shot of the penthouse and the sprawling Australian skyline.

Internet roasts Drake for his 'off-target' throw

Fans and trolls took to X (formerly Twitter) to dissect Drake’s absolutely feeble throw.

"No way this s**t is real, man. There's no way. The throw. The way he just threw it to the side lmfao. No f**king way, man. No one is that bad at throwing a sandal at a drone," one social media user posted on X.

"Someone down on the ground prolly just got hit by an orange slide," another wrote.

"Even the way he threw that sandal was zesty," a third user added.

"Dear God there's not enough L's in the alphabet to hand this man. You'd think the one was enough," someone else offered.

"He’s just trynna flex on all of us but that throw was extremely feminine and off target as f**k," read a comment.

"Imagine if Drake sent an owl to chase the drone," another joked.

Was it an elaborate stunt?

Not everyone bought that this was just a random instance of Drake failing at drone warfare. Some suspected the whole thing was staged, potentially as part of an upcoming project.

"It’s literally a Stake ad though. how dumb can all of you be," a social media user said on X.

"You can't tell me this is real bro, this is gotta be a like for an upcoming music video or some sort, the tall penthouse, the view, the purposely missed throw, it's a dead giveaway," another insisted.

"Market team needs a bonus this reach is crazy," yet another remarked.

Drake’s new album is getting mixed reviews

It's safe to say that Drake has oftentimes been the king of creative marketing. Who could forget the fake Howard Stern interview and mock 'SNL' appearance for 'Her Loss' in 2022? He even got Michael B Jordan to pretend to introduce him on 'SNL'. So it wouldn’t be surprising if this drone fiasco was part of the rollout for his latest project.

Especially since '$OME $EXY $ONGS 4 U'—his newest album with 'PartyNextDoor'—has fans divided. Some love it, but critics are calling it mid, and even some longtime fans are saying the album is boring, according to HotNewHipHop.

T-Pain had some thoughts on the matter. During a recent livestream, he speculated that the album wasn’t exactly fresh material. "I feel like Drake recorded a bunch of stuff. And to keep PARTY around, he probably said, 'Here, take 10 or 15 of these, put a verse on them, and that's our album,'" he said.

He didn’t outright slam the album, but he did make it clear that it wasn’t hitting the same way previous projects did. "I'm not saying the songs are bad. These are just tracks that didn’t make other albums," T-Pain added.
