Drake's father says he 'don't care' about Kendrick Lamar's Grammy win amid legal and musical feud
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Drake is yet to comment on Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy victories, but his father, Dennis Graham, did not mince words when asked about Lamar’s Song of the Year and Record of the Year wins for 'Not Like Us.'
Speaking to TikTok user Joy of Everything, Graham said, “I don’t care enough about that s**t. That ain’t got nothing to do with me. All the best to him, man. I don’t do that b******t.”
Drake and Kendrick Lamar's long-standing feud
Kendrick Lamar’s song 'Not Like Us', which took direct shots at Drake, marked a major moment in their decade-long feud, intensifying an already contentious rivalry.
The feud between Drake and Lamar dates back to 2013 when Lamar first called out Drake in his verse on Big Sean’s 'Control.'
Drake initially downplayed the diss, telling Billboard, “It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform.”
Over the years, the feud continued to escalate.
In December 2013, Drake told Vibe, “I have no ill feelings toward that guy. … We haven’t seen each other since the BET cypher, but I’m sure we’ll see each other and it’ll be cool. And if it’s not, then I guess that’s how our story unfolds.”
Kendrick Lamar's allegations against Drake in 2024
The feud took a dramatic turn in April 2024 when Kendrick Lamar released 'Meet the Grahams', alleging that Drake had a secret daughter.
He followed up with 'Not Like Us' and Drake vehemently denied the claims in his response track, 'The Heart Part 6.'
“We plotted for a week and then we fed you the information / A daughter that’s 11 years old, I bet he takes it / We thought about giving a fake name or a destination / But you so thirsty, you not concerned with investigation,” Drake rapped in his rebuttal.
Legal battle between Drake and UMG
Beyond the music, the feud has escalated into a legal dispute.
In November 2024, Drake filed legal complaints alleging that Kendrick Lamar’s record label, Universal Music Group (UMG), conspired to “artificially inflate” the popularity of 'Not Like Us'.
UMG denied the claims, telling Billboard, “The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue.”
The controversy deepened when Drake filed a federal lawsuit accusing UMG of defamation, claiming the label spread a “false and malicious narrative” by promoting Lamar’s song.
UMG hit back in a statement to Us Weekly, asserting, “We have not and do not engage in defamation—against any individual. At the same time, we will vigorously defend this litigation to protect our people and our reputation.”
