Drew Barrymore calls Meghan Markle by her ‘shared family name’ after she wanted to be known as a ‘Sussex’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle, 43, is set to appear on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' in a segment airing March 6.
Ahead of the full episode, a preview was shared with PEOPLE, where Drew Barrymore addressed her guest as "Meghan Sussex", before diving into the show's "Fast Five" segment.
This appearance comes just days after Markle reflected on the deeper meaning of the "Sussex" title -- bestowed upon her and Harry by Queen Elizabeth on their 2018 wedding day -- now that they have children.

Drew Barrymore dubs Meghan Markle 'Meghan Sussex'
In a preview of 'The Drew Barrymore Show', the clip began with the host introducing Meghan Markle using her surname, saying, "This is the Fast Five with Meghan Sussex," followed by loud applause from the audience.
The segment then featured Markle answering a series of rapid-fire questions, including one about the last time she was surprised.
Markle shared that the surprise came when Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, sent her a heartfelt card during her trip to NYC.
When asked what traits of Harry she sees in their children, Markle humorously revealed that she finds their British accent particularly funny when they pronounce "zebra."
The host also asked Markle about the original name of her former show 'Suits', to which the Duchess of Sussex revealed, "A Legal Mind."
While the rapid-fire questions offered some fun insights, a standout moment from the preview was when Barrymore introduced Meghan using the surname "Sussex," which is also the last name of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
This is significant because it aligns with a tradition within the royal family. Prince Harry, for instance, used the surname "Wales" during his time as a pupil and in the army, taking the title "Prince of Wales" from his father, King Charles, as the basis for his surname at the time.
Meghan Markle descibes the Sussex name as part of her love story

Meghan Markle’s recent appearance on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' followed her recent comments in PEOPLE's exclusive cover story, where she opened up about the significance of her surname.
The Duchess of Sussex shared, "It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children."
She went on to express, "I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me."
Describing the Sussex name as "part of our love story," Markle added, “I think as the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?’ I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex.”

In the second episode of 'With Love, Meghan' on Netflix, Markle also corrected her friend Mindy Kaling when she referred to her as "Meghan Markle". The two were preparing for a garden party and reminiscing about their childhood meals, when Kaling remarked, "People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box."

Markle replied, “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now.”
She continued, "You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children,' I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go, this is our family name, our little family name."
