Phil Robertson’s son, Jase Robertson shared during the podcast that the doctors are "sure that he has some sort of blood disease that’s causing all kinds of problems," apart from his Alzheimer’s.

Alan Robertson clarified that while the 78-year-old family patriarch has been dealing with the condition for years, recently it has worsened.

Jase further added that though their father still has an interest in getting back to the podcast, at times he can "barely walk without crying out in pain,” and that his "memory is not what it once was.”

However, there is a bigger problem as Jase revealed that the TV star’s debilitating condition has left him "literally unable to just sit down and have a conversation."

Alan observed that like every other Alzheimer’s patient, Phil too has both good and bad days.

"There are days you feel like he’s coming back, and then other days he’s like, 'Who are you?'" shared Jase, while saying that their father is in pain and has been consistently losing weight.

"It’s those two things happening simultaneously," added Jase. Nevertheless, he shared that the silver lining is Phil has been "eating pretty good.” Still, he is struggling to regain his weight.

Phil Robertson’s disease has no cure

Jase Robertson clarified and added that Phil Robertson’s disease has no cure.

“We’ve got a team of doctors, and then we have another set of doctors who are looking at all the tests, and they’re all in agreement that there’s no curing what he has,” Jase said.

Thus, the family has now shifted their focus to keeping Phil as comfortable as possible.

Instead of feeling “doom and gloomy,” the family has been focusing on staying "optimistic about doing a few things to slow it down."

Phil’s family even took him on the opening day of duck season in November. However, the entrepreneur, who built a huge duck-hunting business, was left unable to shoot his weapon because he was in excruciating pain.

“After the hunt, he said, ‘Jase, I was miserable',” he recalled. “He was just hurting and he couldn’t do anything. He just said ‘’y’all don’t call me, I’ll call you when I’m ready to go back'."

Jase concluded the segment by saying that Phil not being able to hunt "tells you all you need to know."
