Dwight Howard’s elimination from ‘DWTS’ before semifinals has Internet celebrating: ‘We all cheered’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former basketball player Dwight Howard was the latest celebrity to get eliminated from ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 33.

The former NBA star’s ‘DWTS’ journey was cut short on Tuesday, November 12, when he and his partner Daniella Karagach were eliminated from the glitzy dance reality show. 

While the show celebrated its 500th episode on Tuesday, it was not memorable for Dwight and his partner, as they did not advance to next week’s semifinals, per Variety.

Who advanced to 'DWTS' Season 33 semifinals?

The competition in ‘DWTS’ Season 33 just got even tenser as the semifinalists were revealed on Tuesday. 

Dwight Howard and partner Daniella Karagach performed an Argentine Tango before attempting a paso doble during the instant dance challenge. They, however, failed to impress the judges or the live audience members who were voting. Thus, ending their run.

After the 38-year-old former Los Angeles Lakers star and his partner’s elimination - the other pairs advanced to next week’s semifinal round. Though Dwight got eliminated after receiving 48 out of 60, the other three athletes on the show got marked as safe, per FTW.

Next week’s semifinal will feature former NFL wide receiver Danny Amendola and his partner Witney Carson, Team USA Olympian Ilona Maher and her partner Alan Bersten, another Olympic gold medalist Stephen Nedoroscik and his partner Rylee Arnold. 

Two other pairs - Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong, with their perfect 60 out of 60 score and Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson were also marked safe from the elimination, per TV Line.

Dwight Howard's elimination got the 'DWTS' fans in a celebratory mood as they said it was worth the wait. 

One user said, "DWIGHT FINALLY GOT ELIMINATED. EVERYBODY GET UP #DWTS500th #DWTS."

"His elimination was worth the wait as it was so satisfying! I’m celebrating that Brandon Armstrong has finally made it to the Semifinals with Chandler Kinney!" chimed in another fan, happy with the former NBA star's elimination.

Another fan quipped while using a hilarious video, "Me after tonight’s elimination #dwts."

"Omg dwight and daniella sent home we all cheered #dwts," wrote someone else, happy with the outcome.

A Chandler Kinney fan noted that they got a fright during the elimination round, noting, "So happy that Dwight Howard has finally been eliminated! I was so scared for Chandler Kinney! I was so shocked that she was in the bottom three again after getting two perfect scores! I’m so happy that Chandler Kinney has made it to The Semifinals! #DWTS."
