'DWTS' alum Julianne Hough reveals details of 'really sweet' first date with ex Ryan Seacrest
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Julianne Hough is spilling some serious tea about her first date with Ryan Seacrest.
The American actress and dancer dated the ‘American Idol’ host from 2010 to 2013.
Hough, 36, recently appeared on the Sunday, August 18 episode of Andy Cohen’s ‘Watch What Happens Live!’ where she opened up about her first date with TV’s favorite presenter.
Julianne Hough talks about her first date with Ryan Seacrest
Appearing in Andy Cohen’s show, the ‘Dancing With The Stars’ alum shared where she went on her first date with Seacrest.
Recalling their first date, Hough shared, “I think it was like Polo Lounge or something,” referring to Beverly Hills Hotel’s famous restaurant and bar, per Us Weekly.
Though the place is a celebrity hot spot, Hough admitted that her date with Seacrest was a “private” one. Later in the interview, she went on to elaborate on her favorite first date of all time - which, by the way, was not with Seacrest.
She reminisced on the first date when she went to a romantic trip to Santa Monica Pier with somebody she said she doesn’t “really remember.”
She elaborated on the date, “Oh this was really sweet,” before adding, “We did the Ferris wheel and we kissed.”
Later, in the show, the ‘Footloose’ star shared her thoughts on what the general public perception is about her, as she explained that she thought the audience really doesn’t know about her profession.
Hough shared, “I think because I do so many different things, I’m a bit confusing,” before elaborating, “People are like, ‘What does she do, does she dance, is she a singer, is she an actor, what does she do?’”
“But I think I’m a storyteller,” admitted the dancer before adding, “And I think by nature, everything that I do is storytelling whether it’s through my body or through my voice or through my acting.”
Julianne Hough explained why she and Ryan Seacrest broke up
Hough’s candid conversation with Cohen came just a week after she opened up about the cause of her breaking up with Seacrest during an appearance at Dax Shepard’s ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast.
Appearing on Monday, August 12 episode of the podcast, Hough suggested that their relationship - which went on for about three years - failed to work because of the differences in their levels of fame.
Referring to the ‘Safe Haven’ actress’s relationship with Seacrest, Shepard said, “I would imagine it would be so exciting and so privileged and so romantic and then also I would feel like I was losing myself to all of that.”
Hough replied, as she accepted, “That was exactly the dynamic. The rug was swept up from underneath me, and I was just flying and I was experiencing things that I didn’t even know existed.”
She shared that as she was just expanding in her career and taking baby steps toward stardom, she did not want anyone to think that she was using Seacrest - who was already a famous host - for her growth.
“I had this insecurity that I was like, ‘I don’t ever want anybody to think that I’m with him for this reason,’” Hough shared.
She continued, “And so I then started playing smaller. I know that that was his experience in past situations and stuff, and so I again overcompensated, [I] was malleable to fit into exactly what somebody needed me to be for them to be happy.”
After her short-lived relationship with Seacrest, Hough fell in love with NHL player Brooks Laich. The couple started dating in 2014 and announced their engagement in 2015.
They tied the knot in 2017 but decided to separate in 2022.
