NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik made a strong debut on 'Dancing With the Stars' during the season premiere, impressing fans not only with his moves but also with his heartwarming gestures off the dance floor.

Known to fans as the 'Pommel Horse Guy,' Nedoroscik and his dance partner Rylee Arnold scored 21 out of 30 for their lively jive to Queen's 'Don’t Stop Me Now' on the September 17 episode, as per Parade.

Dressed in a short-sleeved black-and-white striped shirt paired with black pants, Nedoroscik looked the part of a confident dancer but, his shirt needed some last-minute adjustments before the performance.

Nedoroscik's wardrobe fix becomes a special keepsake for his family

In a video shared on Instagram, Arnold revealed the shirt's sleeve was too long and had to be trimmed to fit the desired look for the routine.

But what could have been a simple wardrobe tweak turned into a touching moment for the athlete’s family.

“Steve’s original jive shirt was a little long, so we had to cut the sleeve because I wanted it to be short-sleeved,” explained Arnold, 19, in the video. “So, Steve asked the costume people to let him keep what they cut off for who?”

Arnold couldn’t contain her reaction, responding, “Oh my god! I cried that’s so cute!”

The heartfelt gesture quickly won over fans, with Arnold playfully captioning her post, "We need to protect Steve at ALL costs."
