Ellen DeGeneres lists $30M UK estate for sale as she shifts home just months after permanent move from US

COTSWOLDS, UNITED KINGDOM: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have put their luxurious $30 million Cotswolds estate on the market, just months after purchasing it for around $20 million.
The couple, who relocated to the UK permanently following President Donald Trump’s reelection, had initially planned to use the property as a part-time retreat.
However, their decision to settle in England full-time, and the need for better facilities for de Rossi’s horses, led them to move to a nearby estate, prompting the unexpected sale.

According to a report published by The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, July 22, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have listed their 43-acre Cotswolds estate, “Kitesbridge Farm,” for approximately $30 million.
The couple originally purchased the property for around $20 million in spring 2024, just before relocating from California to the UK following President Donald Trump’s reelection.
In a statement to the outlet, DeGeneres explained that they needed a home better suited to De Rossi’s equestrian lifestyle.
“When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses,” she said. “We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them.”

The pair, who married in August 2008, have since moved to a nearby estate in the UK that better accommodates their needs.
Now listed through Sotheby’s International Realty, the original seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom farmhouse was redesigned over the past year and includes a two-bedroom guest cottage with its own kitchen and sitting room.
Additional amenities include a heated five-car garage with a kitchenette, a “party barn” with a bar, a heated indoor swimming pool, a gym, a helicopter shed, a kitchen garden, several outdoor living spaces, and a covered courtyard dining area.
Ellen DeGeneres explains how her initial plans changed after Trump's reelection

Ellen DeGeneres publicly confirmed her decision to leave the United States during a live conversation with British broadcaster Richard Bacon on Sunday, July 20.
Speaking at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, she revealed that she and Portia de Rossi initially intended to spend only three to four months each year in the Cotswolds.
However, their plans changed dramatically following Donald Trump’s reelection.
“We got here [to England] the day before the election,” DeGeneres told the audience. “And we woke up to lots of texts from our friends and crying emojis."

She continued at Sunday's event, "We were like, ‘We’re staying here, we’re not going back, we are not leaving.’ So yeah, we bought a house that we thought was going to be a part-time house then we decided we needed a different house and now we’re selling that house. If anybody wants a house. It’s a beautiful house. It’s a beautiful stone farmhouse."
DeGeneres also shared her love for life in the UK, praising the people, the countryside, and even the food. “Fish and chips are delicious, yes,” she said, adding, “It’s absolutely beautiful. We are just not used to seeing this kind of beauty."
DeGeneres further explained, "Everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life. It’s clean and everything here is better. The way animals are treated, the way people are polite. I just love it here."
