Ellen DeGeneres doubles down on accusations, says 'I am not mean' after she cancels 4 stand-up shows
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly called off four of her 32-date tour ‘Ellen's Last Stand... Up’ that took off in June, but failed to issue a statement regarding the same.
The four shows that have been canceled were slated for Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago for July and August, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Ticketmaster announces cancelation of Ellen DeGeneres shows
An announcement made by the Ticketmaster website read, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. You don't need to do a thing.”
“We'll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days,” it noted.
The statement added, “Please Note: If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.”
‘Ellen's Last Stand... Up’ began two years after her hit talk show
The TV host came up with ‘Ellen's Last Stand... Up’ after facing multiple accusations of harassment, racism, and a hostile work environment from her former and current staff members of her now-canceled ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.
The attack against her began after comedian Kevin T Porter shared a tweet on X in March 2020.
Porter wrote, “Right now we all need a little kindness. You know, like Ellen Degeneres always talks about! She’s also notoriously one of the meanest people alive.”

Ellen DeGeneres says she's a 'strong woman'
However, recently, DeGeneres appeared to whitewash her image during her performance at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa on Monday evening, July 2.
“Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me. I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean,” she said, as reported by SF Gate.
The 66-year-old comedian continued, “I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ Now I realize I said that during the height of my popularity,” before adding, “I can be demanding and impatient and tough. I am a strong woman.”
“I am many things, but I am not mean,” DeGeneres added.
Internet labels Ellen DeGeneres ‘egocentric’
Meanwhile, many social media users have weighed in after the shows were canceled by the Primetime Emmy Award.
An responded to a Daily Mail article, “She's loaded and just needs to fade into obscurity. What she said in her stand-up about the situation is in complete contrast to the groveling ‘I didn't know’ speech she gave on her talk show after the events occurred. There are far too many people, both industry people and fans who have experienced her being an absolute awful human being for it not to be true.”
Another one said, “No one is interested in these ‘redemption’ tours. Especially when they fail to see where they went wrong.”
“Egocentric people struggle to do this - they crave the attention,” said one reader.
A person shared, “She should stop trying. People haven't forgotten.”
One user added, “Live off your investments fade away, and accept you are what they say because too many said it about you.”
